Just enjoyed most of a bottle (with a pal) of Windowrie Family Reserve SPARKLING Shiraz. I'm not a huge fan of reds, as I find them generally either heavy and oily, or too acidic. This one really hit the spot - light, and yet not thin, with a good fruity taste, and the fizz certainly makes it very suitable for summer quaffing. From the O'Dea's winery at Cowra, inland from Sydney, it's been labelled 'Family Reserve', as per their best wines. Big, ripe flavour with zest. £8.99 and well worth it.

I don't think I've heard of sparkling red before - shame I can't drink the stuff really! I can manage a glass, just, so might have to try one of those as I was always partial to a Shiraz.

Just shared a bottle of Australian Chardonnay alongside a BBQ - can always rely on the ol' tried & trusted Aussie Chardonnay!

:) I love BBQs - there was a gorgeous aroma of grilling steak coming through the windows today, and I could have eaten my own arm! Try this sparkler, Shadz - I really enjoyed it, and didn't feel 'heady' after, as I often do with reds.

Look I shall get a restraining order if you send me any of those again K - it is harassment . Blossom Hill causes me alarm and distress .

Sparkling shiraz is interesting stuff and goes very well with BBQs - the Seppelt's version is good too.

I have indeed been sampling the very best of Ardross's cellar. The Blossom Hill did a fine job cleaning the drains, although I think the drains smelled better before the wine went down!!

I wondered where that Sancerre went - I shall be sending the old Bill round

It's a fair cop, guv. By the way, Sainsburys have Pouilly Fume at half price - £6 at the moment which is a good deal.

Okay, James, I shall desist. Five crates of Lambrini wing their way to you in apology, dear boy...
