World's Top 50 Restaurants

There is a possibilty that I am inheriting a bungalow Nr. Banstead Brian, so I may need you to ask your advice as to the best places to eat in this area. You will have to let me know if you fancy meeting up for a burger and a pint one evening! :D

I may well turn it into a B&B for the nice forumites to stay in for the big local race meetings. Well located for Epsom, Sandown, Kempton and Lingfield!

I do a mean fry up! Hands up those who like black pudding & fried bread with theirs! B)

We are quite short of good places to eat locally, though there is a very good Italian restaurant, La Veranda, in Carshalton Beeches.

The best restaurant around - some claim the best restaurant in the whole of Surrey - is The Dining Room in Reigate. Chef Tony Tobin, seen occasionally on Ready, Steady, Cook joined the restaurant in 1993 after working for Nico Ladenis at Chez Nico. In 2002 Peter Wood, founder of Direct Line and esure, bought the business and cleverly made Tony Tobin the joint owner.

The Dining Room isn't cheap but you get what you pay for. The lady customers all seem to be attracted by Luca, the maitre d'. (I always tell them that he is gay.)

One of the two pubs in Banstead Village was recently converted into a Zizzi's. I met up with someone there recently and enjoyed it.

I think there is a Zizzi's in Marlow? Sort of Italian food, and you can't book beforehand if I remember rightly. Anyway, back to my burger and pint - do you have anywhere like that in Banstead Brian? If not, then I am going to have to reconsider a house move to Surrey. B)

I noticed when checking out the area that there are a few carvery's in the area and a lovely Tea Room in Ewell village that sells handmade chocolates! I will have to do some more research. B) Thanks for the tips on the other restuarants Brian, I may well check a couple of them out. If I mention your name at any of them do I get guaranteed the best table in the house? :)

I have deleted your exchange with Shadow Leader - please keep personal disputes off the forum .

In my local area.

There is a Local imbiss that sells the most tasty Bratwurst and Pommes.

Weiss oder Rot?

Beides bitte.

When I lived in London there was a restuarant called "Just Around The Corner" on the Finchley Road about a 5 minute drive from Cricklewood. It claimed to be the first restaurant in the world without a price list-you paid what you thought the meal was worth.I think people used to go there with the intention of paying a pound for a 4 course meal but the food and service was so good you ended up paying a little bit extra and tipping the waitresses.Has anyone else heard of it or eaten there.
