Your Favorite Film Of All Time

I will watch it soon. I may save it for Half Term when I can chill out for a whole evening.

I think you need to categorise films into various denominations i.e. ACTION, like war or boxing, LOVE ones, SINISTER ones, MUSICALS, etc etc has all our tastes are surely not the same.

I very rarely find time to watch films as such, but every one to their own!! I loved a few of the epics made and would not watch the likes of Star Wars (o/k for kids) because it don't basically appeal to me as such...........

I liked Private Ryan, Platoon, Mutiny on the Bounty, the Robe and a few more too, to many to mention............

I'm like Merlin, I wouldn't watch Star wars, I've never seen any of those films, but I'm a massive fan of Star Trek. Work that one out.
On average I watch about 2 films per year so if you find my choices very strange that might be the reason

Best Comedy = Coming to America (The Life of Brian)
Best Western = For a few dollars more (The magnificent seven)
Best boxing film = Rocky (The champ) I can't think of any others I would consider.
Best horse racing film = none, they're all very average.
Best Musical = Chitty Chitty bang bang (My fair lady)
Best war film = The great escape (The bridge on the river kwai)

My other favourites would include Die Hard, Trading places, Beverley Hills cop, and most Clint Eastwood westerns.

I've never seen The Godfather, and Raging Bull bored me to tears.
One flew over the cuckoo's nest isn't as funny as it's made out to be, and Saving Private Ryan is the sort of film I could only watch once. I quite liked The Shawshank redemption but I was told it was absolutely brilliant and I wouldn't say it was that.

I don't think I like serious films. :D

I'm going to see 'National Treasure' with a pal tomorrow. It's been probably at least 18 months since I actually visited a cinema, and I hope it's not going to be so much tosh that it's another 18 before I can face their deafening adverts and trailers again!

Jon, leave your brain at the door for National Treasure. It is enjoyable but total tosh I am afraid.

I tend to go for films that don't send me to sleep on a Friday night, which most films tend to do. Once I've seen a film then I'm not too bothered about seeing it again.

The Godfather was very good and I really liked The Untouchables too.

Pretty Woman and Notting Hill I've seen more than once.

Blondes Have More Fun is good.

I love The Wizard of Oz and Toy Story.

But there's too many.

I agree, there's definitely too many. My favourite film would probably come from one of Elizabeth, The Usual Suspects or The Green Mile though. Gladiator was pretty good, too.

I'm no film critic - all my fave films are such for sentimental reasons because they were part of the backdrop to my childhood and early adult life and have happy assoociations in my mind because of what was happening to me at that time in my life - e.g. I saw various segments of Kind Hearts And Coronets and Get Carter in my adolesence before later seeing both films from start to finish and realising the segments belonged to the same film, whereas Escape from New York was the first film I went to see while at university.

My often sentimental list (where remade, I refer to the original): Kind Hearts And Coronets, It's A Wonderful Life, Get Carter, Escape From New York, Time Bandits, The Godfather, The Fearless Vampire Killers, Wizard Of Oz, The Railway Children, Planet Of The Apes, On The Waterfront, A Streetcar Named Desire, The Graduate, Guys And Dolls and probably others I can't recall at this time.

Dammit, Brian! I was just going to put that one up, as it were.

You're not wrong about 'National Treasure', Pee - I dozed off during the high-speed, all-action street chases! You've seen 4,572, you've seen 'em all... I thought the premise of the film was fun, in an Indiana Jones kinda way, but the actors should've been no older than 23 as it's really a kids' adventure tale. Very well done, though, in spite of the American tendency to have to explain everything in case no-one in the audience knows anything: "It's a cartograph. That's a map." No! I thought it was Cartman's autograph, dude.

I saw Alexander last night, and though nothing brilliant thought it was much better than the reviews its been getting. And as for A Jolie......mmmmmmm
