Betfair Hurdle Sat Feb 12th 2022 Newbury

Must be me.

I checked DG earlier lists against my Betfair Hurdle ratings table and annotated the festival entries. I had noted KH holding his Supreme entry but not the other two, for which he'd been 'possible'.

I see he's not listed in DG's new link.

I'm obviously not drinking enough...

Unless I'm losing my mind he was not in today's entires for the novice races.

Don't worry you are perfectly sane. Maybe he's thinking the Martin Pipe for Knappers Hill.

JPR One however does have an entry and will probably have a go if he wins the Betfair

Knappers Hill looks an out-and-out 2-miler (as are the sires other admittedly-limited NH stock). I can’t imagine they’d be looking to run him in the Conditionals race over a stiff 2m4f. The County maybe, but not surely not the Conditionals. Still think the likely scenario is they wait for Aintree, where he won the Bumper at the Nash meeting last year (a race which is working out very nicely).

Amazing he's not even in the County betting.

JPR One has been matched for about 500 quid from 15 to 12 on the machine and is best priced at 10/1 with the bookies.

I still say he has Betfair written all over him and I expect him to go off favourite

Interesting to see what the ground is forecast to be for next Saturday.

How soft would it have to be for Metier to run etc.

Broomfield Burg is interesting in the sense that if he wins this the current 20's for the County Hurdle looks big.

A way to go yet but I feel if you fancy Broomfieid Burg enough for this, you may want to think about having a saver etc on him for the County.

Metier could be interesting stepped up in trip for the Coral Cup I reckon. Harry Fry mentioned this after his Lingfield win where he also said that stepping Metier up was a possibility on better ground.

JP# one is now clear favourite on the machine from 16.5 to 8.6 for a few grand........Paddy Power and Betfair Sportsbook 6/1 fav are playing follow the leader

As I suspected earlier on, there is no cut to worry about.

If Moore can win this with Natural History it will go down as one of the Schweppes 'feats' to rival Ryan Price and John Sutcliffe.

When I first did the weights one of the bets I struck was I Like To Move It for the Supreme (40/1 plus three-figures on the exchange) so I felt compelled to go in now at 11/1. The stable had Ballyandy win this and was sent off at 3/1f for the Supreme (surely one of the stupidest favourites ever). I can't see the same thing happening here but a win and we be in the same territory as Soaring Glory last year in terms of market moves so I wanted it onside.

My eye keeps being drawn to Boothill of whom great things were expected this season on the chasing front having missed the latter part of last season with splint problems. Opened up with a decent third to Soaring Glory (now 4 lbs better off for a couple of lengths) in an Ascot Hurdle and he followed with an odds-on chasing debut flop at Exeter early December. Nothing since - problems, or set aside for something like this back over hurdles since chasing not his bag?
