Jockey News

It depends what he makes of it. If it merely means a few guest appearances in other countries from time to time then you’re right. But potentially it’s very big if he becomes the man on board all their big contenders in France and the UK. Juddmonte haven’t had anyone in such a role before.

He very much needs to copy Pat Smullen and get a full book of rides when he's travelling. I'll believe it when I see it.

A slap in the face for OM, maybe, but maybe they don't want such a flawed character showcasing the silks. When I win the Euromillions and get involved as an owner, OM will not be riding any of my Hunt Cup or Magnet Cup winners.

Keane may be the steady-Eddie type they need (even if his name isn't Eddie).
Possibly , but after the Lockinge he was saying he would always ride for Juddmonte if asked to explain jumping off Tamfana.

Is it possible he was first choice but turned it down?

Is it possible he felt it would affect his chances of being champion jockey, then?

You do realise he's a month from crashing a car with a BHA female employee in the passenger seat? He has the choice of f%*& all and racing enables his horrendous behavior.

I did say in an earlier reply it was possible Juddmonte didn't want him because of his flaws.

Just exploring other possibilities in the light of subsequent replies.

Delighted for Colin, one down to earth nice guy .
Such a pity Connor King was so tall as he out rode Colin for 2 Apprentice titles when young and light.
Team Juddmonte and Colin are the ideal fit; there are few owners that have their manners, maybe the Double Green Munir/Suede combo are comparable.

The jury is out on Colin Keane. He's a man with no ambition.

Very unlikely I should have thought . Unless his contract with the limited forces now of Sheikh Fahad makes it expensive for OM to leave I suspect he would have bitten Juddmonte's hands off .

My question remains, how do you define 'ambition'?

'Lack of ambition' isn't a definition.

For example, I would respectfully describe Mrs O as 'driven' professionally but she got so far and decided that was far enough because her work-life balance would have tipped the wrong way. Maybe up until now that's how CK has felt but maybe now he feels the time is right to venture on a bit.

I can totally respect that as a mature state of mind.

I heard that her injuries were greatly exaggerated, that she was back at work a few days after.
Time will tell, and hopefully truth will out.
No doubt he is the most talented rider around but the "self destruct " gene is all too obvious.
Flat jockeys should not behave like jump jockeys of old.
I remember a famous Northern jockey profiled once ; when asked his favourite tipple he replied "too much of everything ,as a driving ban demonstrates "
