The 2025 Should Be Odds-On Thread

Rebels Romance is 5/2 for tomorrow's Hardwicke Stakes. A been everywhere done everything horse, he's at least five pounds clear of everything else on official ratings and those closest to him in the betting have been in indifferent form of late. Their connections will be hoping to find various rabbits in their Royal Ascot top hats by applying blinkers, trying a new trip etc.

Now is the time to bet like men.

I think he's an overrated Meydan sometimes bullshit group races in America that even hounds like Silver Knott can win shitehound and I'm taking him on with Al Riffa. Fukc the boys in blue.

I was on to Rebels a long time ago and not even I could foresee how many races he was going to win. I even took him on at last years Breeders Cup, on the basis he was so short in the betting, and he went and won again, it took me a while to forgive myself. I feel this will be a Royal Rumble tomorrow though and I'm taking him on each way with last seasons Melrose handicap winner Tabletalk, which says a lot about me I guess.

Best of luck, Grey.

Overrated?

Rebels Romance is not at the level to be winning the top European races like the Arc, Irish Champions Stakes, Juddmonte etc but he is a Gr1 horse all the same. An A minus rather than a straight A or A plus, which is why he’s been globetrotting. But tomorrow’s race is a Gr2 race. Normally it’s a high class one for the level, but this year’s field looks thinner than usual, to be honest.

Let’s hope for a straightforward race where every horse gets their opportunity.

Great shout!

Saturday, the Curragh 3.30 - Kalpana 6/4 - has a healthy advantage over the field on ORs and likely to come on for her reappearance run as well after missing her intended comeback at York due to a dirty scope. She was favourite for the Arc at the end of last season. Whirl should have won the Oaks but it was a moderate renewal and she’ll have to come on a fair bit, which is not impossible given her age, for her to win this much tougher contest. I reckon the bigger danger is Survie who was seventh in the Arc and narrowed the gap on the runner-up that day to just 1½ lengths on her reappearance and it’s interesting that they’re opting to come here rather than find an easy option at home.
