The 2025 Should Be Odds-On Thread

I haven't got a strong view on the race, but if someone gave me a free bet on the contest I'd be having it on Forever Young, despite the wide draw.

I've spent 40 years plus in and around this game hearing and reading people saying "there is no reason why he/she shouldn't be effective on...." (insert dirt if it's a turf horse, turf if it's a dirt horse, Soft if it's a fast ground horse, Firm if it's a mudlark, a new trip, whatever) and more often than not the horse isn't as effective on it or at it.

Romantic Warrior "might" win, obviously, but it's a massive ask on a new surface.
strongly agree.

I was keeping a close enough on the market last night and today. For me the main feature of the market was William Hill being keen to take on the favourites -Walk of Stars and Wilson Tesoro were the two they were looking to avoid.

Sensational race - I've bet the winner (who imo got a great ride to overcome the draw) but what an effort from Romantic Warrior on his first run on dirt.

Daylight was third.

Vauban -5:35Rosehill Gardens.Sweated like an absolute pig before its debut for the Gai Waterhouse stable 2 weeks ago.Running over an inadequate 10 furlongs he showed a nice turn of foot to get upon the line suggesting he will improve at 12 furlongs.
He has obviously acclimatised and that is the key factor for ex European trained horses in Australia.I could see him becoming a big fan favourite in Australia.11/4is available with Hills,Ladbrokes and Coral -I think he wins.

Third under a hold up at all costs ride where Tom Marquand kept in simple on the Willie Haggas trained winner.Slightly unlucky but I will chip away at Vauban for Melboune Cup.
