The 2025 Prix De L'Arc De Triomphe Weekend Meeting Thread

Does anybody think that Japan might actually win this year with Croix du Nord or Byzantine Dream ?
I think if the ground rides on top a case can be made for all three of their entries - that's why I am in weather watch.

That said, it was pretty quick ground at York and Minnie Hauk bounced off it.

She's yet to face male opposition, but she has a favourite's chance, which is more than I can say for Aventure, who I think needs cut.

And the headline today is:

'I've been booked to ride him since Royal Ascot' - Oisin Murphy confident of making Arc history on Byzantine Dream for Japan

(Sorry about the bold - I can’t get rid of it on edit for some reason)
I feel like barjon is shouting at us all.

Not for the first time, Euronymous has beaten me to it - by about three hours to be precise.

Ten in the Chaudenay, a diabolical all Britain-trained trio in the Cadran, 12 in the Wildenstein, 16 in the Royallieu and 13 in the Dollar.

And if you suspected I said all that with a ridiculously-affected faux French accent, you weren't wrong!

Bringez it on!

It has been announced that Minnie Hauk WILL be supplemented tomorrow.

I think this could be a ground-dependant Arc and, although the current consensus among the media lemmings is that it will be unseasonably quick on Sunday, my Gallic spies - notably "Paris Pierre," scourge of the Pari-Mutuel - tell me, and I quote, that: "Il va absolument tout pisser" (12mm rain expected) on Friday, so I'm gonna wait for now.
Pierre, currently being held on remand at the Bastille for saying: "I fart in your general direction" to Macron, has iphone access and texts to say it now looks like 10mm rain in Paris on Friday.

Sunday's supporting card looking good to me with 14 in the Boussac, 12 in the Lagadere, 19 in the L'Abbaye, 22 in the L'Opera and 20 in the Foret.

I won't be posting much over the next few weeks as I got back from my hols and the Mother in law died the next day and as she was a carer as such for the father in law its posed a few extra problems. In the meantime the mrs car blew up so had to go and sort a new car for her in the midst of it all. Life's a general shitshow for me most days so this has just added a level or two to the usual amount of chaos.

Although I haven't had a look through the race and Minnie Hauk obviously wins because Slim said so. I made 2 notes from trials day. 1) Slim is no Kirkland Tellwright 2) Leffard genuinely ran like it was just a prep and the race wasnt run to suit. 50/1 for a group 1 CD winner is a bit of a joke compared to some other prices on offer. Good draw bit of luck and hes worth a few shekels. Or even just forecast him to finish behind Minnie Hauk. I hope they never bring a second horse by that name and call her Minnie Hauk tuah.

I've no words, Danny, other than to say I sincerely admire you clearly retaining your excellent sense of humour amid it all.

Slim is a million to ever sit in the fence and that's the way we like it - it's the way I like it, anyway.

Gutless plodder that I am, I'm still waiting on the ground.

Just caught an interview on ATR where the Japanese racing correspondent fancied Byzantine Dream of the three Japanese runners as long as the stick reading is no worse than 3.6.
Sounded like the oriental version of you Ian!!!

You make a fair point and I can see him getting 3rd place with a decent draw (and as you say a bit of luck) and at that big price I think it's worth having small bet on him place as a fun bet :D

Between 4mm and 40mm forecast, so just this once I’m giving your gutless conviction a pass. If I know better, I’ll let you all know.

I'm very sorry for your loss.

Pierre tells me they expect 7mm rain in Paris tomorrow, probably more on Saturday, but Sunday will be a dry day with sunny intervals.

Mind you he was eating a Chateaubriand for two to celebrate his release on bail at the time so he was less than clear on the phone.

He was also speaking in French - a language I haven't much used since Claudette returned to Chatel in 1990.

I see the RP have gone from predicting fast ground on Monday to asking Japanese trainers if their horses will "handle the testing ground" in the space of two days.

The truth, I suspect, lies somewhere in the middle.

Soumillion on the rail with the best horse in the race, it's almost unfair.
