The remaining November Meeting races at Cheltenham

Danny one thing is guaranteed this weekend is that you have backed a winner already if you are meeting up with Jinnyj she is brilliant company and very knowledgable as I am sure you will find out. Enjoy

Unless she knows anything about Juvenile Hurdlers.
Her days of attending Chelters are long gone - besides she'd cramp my style and out talk all of us put together!

Anyway - back on topic.............

So my Just a Rose hasn't been declared but No Drama This End has so he's a pick for me. Haven't checked prices but with Cobden waxing lyrical he's not going to be much of a price I guess.
I've also had a quick glance - will come back to this but maybe not an epistle like Danny.

Last race on Friday:
Alphonse la Grande - yeah we all know him from his Cesarewitch win last year but he's only had 7 runs (no wins) over hurdles. He's right down the bottom of the weights which does interest me. He ran two good races at Ascot and York on the Flat this summer so he's worth a look, I think. (I do tend to get swayed by trainers who I think are up to something though)

Jinnyj well done on starting this thread about ALL the other races at upcoming at Cheltenham. Very informative and relatively lighthearted and not bogged down with betting opportunity paraphernalia. 👏👏👏

You just reminded me its Friday decs time and Matata declared for the Shloer which is good news for me but also looks likely to mean weight rise in the Paddy power and looks likely to be Jagwar in at top weight and would I be right in thinking he's the lowest rated top weight for quite a number of years. Standards are dropping.

Matata 25/1 with ladbrokes boost to 28s if you can. Thats an insane price.

Insane indeed - only meeting the jolly on 5lb worse terms than it would in a handicap and actually meets the second in on better terms than in a handicap.

Might blow out, but it's a course and distance winner and has no business being that big.

Certainly flew round Windsor when I was there last season.

As its not an ew race I dont mind playing him in a couple of exotics along side a win bet with the market leaders in case he just gets touched off by one.

Not getting involved until, I know what conditions are going to be.
There's a yellow warning for heavy rain (up to 50mm) on Friday.

The latest from the course is that the going stick was 6.3 yesterday with the following about the weather:
Weather:
5mm on Monday and 5mm Tuesday evening. 6mm so far on Wednesday
morning (@06:30) with further rain forecast until early
afternoon. Thursday forecast to be dry during the day then a
heavy band of rain moves in overnight into Friday and continues
through the day (20mm+).

6.3 is higher than the last meeting, I think, when IIRC it was 5.9 and the times suggested it was Good ground as officially described.

The 6.3 was yesterday lunchtime, they've had rain since and as Archie says a lot more is forecast, but the track wasn't in bad shape as recently as yesterday so might absorb a fair bit of rain.

JinnyJ as you are aware on Pointing Pointers I post a list of all British Pointers that have run during the 2024/2025 Between The Flags and are entered at racecourses in Britain. I do this daily and whenever possible work 2 days ahead so here are two that are running at Cheltenham on Friday annd the PTP course they last ran at :

Cheltenham 13:10 El Capitaine Edgcote 10/1 available
Cheltenham 15:30 Fountains Blenhein Larkhill 6/1 available

I am sure that these two would not of escaped your attention ;)

I will do the same again for Saturday and Sunday if you feel that it contributes something to your thread.

And wonderful companions.....

Why are Robicheaux or Chaumi coming to say hello ? Im pretty sure they said they were going but have yet to confirm that they are at least coming to say hello. Can't say as I blame them but was at least hoping to bag some proper tips.

Eh dont look so shocked you'll be telling them all im a right c**t when ive made you pay for dinner after Panic Attack wins the big un.

Gordon - yes that's great - thanks. IIRC El Capitaine was Josh Newmans? Fountains I presume is with Anthony Honeyball as I remember his sister, Teresa Clark being annoyed that was another he nabbed from her! Interesting fact, their father, John Honeyball was responsible for the early education of Gold Cup winner, The Dikler who was pretty difficult in his formative days, I believe. JH was the consummate horseman and "made" the horse.

ME pay for dinner? I thought you promised me that when you landed that touch a month or so ago....?

Danny I can vouch for the fact that Jinnyj sure cooks a fine dinner and breakfast when I stayed at her airbnb a couple of years ago.

I'm setting off Sat morning. No racing for me that day. I will be in the Rotunda pub in town from 4pm onwards.
Me + the better half will be at the races on Sunday. Looking forward to the 2 night stay.

I hope the Baron (and Baroness) of Brighton and the Lord (and Lady) of Leeds have a splendid weekend - Danny's only 50/50 to even be there Sunday, anyway, as he's a shade of odds on to be in a cell in downtown Cheltenham by Saturday night.
