With all the racing on between now and March, personally I'm not interested in hearing about Cheltenham until the back end of Feb

Even over the next few days you have these on, which I'm sure provide plenty scope for interesting discussion, so why the fk talk about races in March 2026?

Spot on mate. And i have done a piece about this in the past although i do think it was on my previous forum.
Take the Tingle Creek for instance. It is a great race in its own right celebrating one of the most entertaining two mile chasers i have ever seen. And the race itself has thrown up some memorable finishes fought out by some great horses. The years of Dessie, Long Engagement, Waterloo Boy were exceptional. Flagship Uberalles made it his own and one of my all time favourites, Moscow Flyer, was an absolute joy to watch. He was a bloody machine !!!!!!
But i always get the feeling now that it is just a stepping stone to the "big one". A trial. One of the few races to take in on the way to the only two mile chase that really matters.

No it isnt !!!!!!!!!!!

I don't even look at the ante post lists anymore. No one has been stronger on zoning out from the Cheltenham nonsense than me. There are eight winners at Clonmel to be found today.

Exactly !!
And you know whats running. What the going is. What the weather is like etc etc.

It seems as though as the years go by, more and more people are jumping on the "Lets all start talking about the Cheltenham Festival around August/September time". As if they are doing something different. To me it is completely boring and not something i would ever want to get involved with.

Getting back to podcasts and being different. I noticed you mentioned "the great man" in one of the episodes. I knew you meant JP and i also knew that Nott would think it was Barney. But interviewing him would be different and enlightening. Definitely something not to miss. There would probably be a million tales he could tell and i would listen to every single one.
I can think of a few myself involving him and one of the funniest was his lads ringing us up one morning and asking who the hell had been backing one of their horses and wanting to know exactly who they were !! :)
They were not happy bunnies !!!!!!

The mind boggles.

I doubt its one of the ones i know. He came to our office one day and i was lucky enough to be volunteered to show him round and then make him a cuppa after which we had a half hour chat. Or should i say, he talked and i listened. And very entertaining too.

I know we are all different and have differing views but i really liked the fella and it was sad that he was taken when he was.

Was a decent listen. Lost me at the politics and will racecourses survive part.

Feel Slim should have had a tequilla or 2 in the pub before logging on.

Hopefully the Dave Jennings and Upping The Ante conversation arises again. Politics and PR for the Racing Post will dictate it wont though.
I make Gavin Lynch fav to come back to it. He’s already said this probably last year of his tipping service.

Don't worry it's not just a stepping stone to Cheltenham, see the Tingle Creek thread

Well….I still have no idea what you are talking about, some would say that I have no idea, period.
I would like to know what happened to the unhappy bunnies that QC mentioned though.

:D
They lived happily ever after.

As for JP's boys. I reckon they will get by in life but they were truly miffed that morning. They didnt just ask who had backed the horse, they DEMANDED to know.
But of course, a) client confidentiality and b) its none of their damn business !!!!! :)

He's playing hard to get. Now he's mentioned it, it would be criminal not to get it on.

In fact might aswell make it a talking horses convention at Ians gaff, just think of the spread he could put on with those trifecta winnings.

All is relative in life and I was mortified at the prospect of being "debated" (a euphemism for relentless persecution if ever there was one) by Slim UNTIL Danny eclipsed that horror by trying to invite the TH Massive chez moi.

The problem is I never have anything interesting to say because what little I think I know that's worth knowing I keep to myself.

Every "debate" anyone ever tried to drag me into went like this: "So you think you're a good punter?" "Well, I keep my head above water." "What are your methods, then?" "Why would I want to tell you that?" "To prove you're not a fraud." "I don't care if you think I'm a fraud, you can think I'm the biggest idiot on the planet for all I care and if you think that kind of schoolboy goading will make me reveal my edges you're living in dreamland."

So I've nothing to offer, really, though if I'm not busy that night I'll probably log on and listen.

Would definitely love to see/hear a debate hosted by YFUSA with a panel off Slim, Jinnyj, EDGT, DO etc as the racing knowledge they, and many others on here, have is massive.

I would also say @Danny needs to have a Q&A session all to himself hosted by YFUSA so that we can all see how he sparkles in the sky....

I wouldn't mind hosting it, actually, and hopefully bringing a bit of professional structure to it - like an agenda that was, broadly speaking, stuck to.

It would be more listenable to than that bollocks last night and I actually think Slim would shine brighter than ever in that scenario - the fecker could be the Arkle of social media with the right Director.

Ah, pecking orders and competing CVs!

There are two tried and trusted criteria here.

The first is who has broadcast to the biggest audience - some impressive multi-thousand totals garnered by others on social media, but YFUSA once featured as key interviewee on an ITV Central Documentary entitled "Scam," which was watched by 1.25 MILLION.

The other test is the Classic "Who's put up the most 5,566/1 Trifectas in the last seven days? Sadly, YFUSA only scores one here, so if anyone has two or more at those odds or greater YFUSA will gladly and graciously hand the microphone to them.

Fair's fair!
