TV coverage

Just seen Talking Pictures TV are showing a re-run of 'The Racing Game'

Was a series from the late 70's, before my time, is it worth watching or not?

On at 8pm Monday 8th December

Watched the first episode, i was trying to work out which racecourse was used and reckoned it was Catterick but could be wrong

Anyone know?

I do hate that Ed Chamberlain when he pauses between every f***ing word!!!!
When I did a few podcasts I was understandably teased for saying "fair enough" numerous times.

I did it because I hadn't done much broadcasting - and none in years - and it was a device to allow me to gather my thoughts for what to say next.

But I'd like to think if I was broadcasting EVERY F*****G WEEK for YEARS I'd have long since coached myself out of bad habits by now.

I found Ed Chamberlin a nice bloke when I worked with him on Sports Adviser 30 years ago, but tbh I've never thought he was all that as a broadcaster.

Don't envy him, though, I would get bored to tears doing that every week, no matter how good the money was.

I remember my younger brother being interviewed on the radio as part of a phone-in competition.

Almost his entire contribution to the conversation was riddle with lengthy "ehhmmm"s as he monitored what he was saying.

- So, what's your name and where do you live?

- Ehhhhmmm, Tom (not his real name) and I'm from, ehhhhmmmm, Clydebank.

- And what do you do, Tom?

- Ehhhhmmmm, I'm ehhhhmmmm a student.

- What are you studying and where?

- Ehhhhmmmm, accountancy ehhhhmmmm and ehhhhmmmm politics at ehhhhmmmm XXXX College.

etc, etc

He probably didn't realise he was doing it and it was only when I heard him that I realised that it was how he actually did talk most of the time.

Ever since I can remember there have been four fences in the home straight at Doncaster.

Yesterday, there were only three - I am expecting ITV Racing to be laser focussed on this today.

I expected to be disappointed regarding this and, reassuringly, I wasn't disappointed in my expectations of disappointment. #workthatoneout

What happened to the Hunts was beyond horrific but do they really need a support fund in order to get by?

I don't imagine the man himself is on the minimum wage at the BBC.

OK, it was almost 60 years ago but my granda was murdered and the assailant got a 30-bob fine with time to pay and my father's family got nothing.

It would make me feel better if there was some kind of announcement that the money was going to a fund for bereaved victims of crime.

"Obviously we lost our three amazing girls. There are lots of amazing girls and women out there who are struggling so badly right now and, in our small way, we can demonstrate going into the new year that we're on their side and we can happily back that up with hard cash to help them out now."
