The Official Constitution Hill Thread 2025/26

Double J is spot on I think. If the decision supposedly depends on 1 schooling session then the current intention must be 100% to run him. Hendo seems convinced there is nothing wrong with his jumping per se and must have persuaded Buckley this is the case.

If it is not a jumping problem, maybe it's a confidence problem, or a concentration problem that happens only in a race. How is Breisner going to fix that?

Constitution Hill could jump a thousand hurdlles cleanly at Seven Barrows without getting an ounce of benefit in how to do it on a race track. Connections are in charge of the supposed love of their lives. Henderson is utterly besotted with being able to turn to doubters and say 'I told you so!' He so wants to prove everyone he's been right to persevere. His logic is ruled by his emotions. If they loved the horse as they claim they do, he'd have been withdrawn after his last run. It now looks like they'll wave him off to the start with 'thoughts and prayers' and watch the race through the cracks of their fingers.

Irish St Leger is above his pay grade. No chance he'd have beaten Al Riffa or Kyprios

If they are serious about a flat career, they should be focussing on things he can actually win (The Ebor). He is 9 years old after all, time isn't a luxury they can afford
Wicklow Brave won it + Vauban was a runner up in one. A feasable target imo.

I'm not saying he would beat the pair you mention - his Southwell form comes nowhere near that level, the Yorkshire Cup is a realistic target in the Spring - and we should know more after that. His win last week is worth a mark between 100 and 105, should he run well or even go close at York then his '' potential mark '' would be higher .... most likely ruling him out of handicaps. The Ebor if I'm not mistaken ( and I could be ) is a 0-110 race , by the time August comes ( assuming he runs another twice before then ) he may be too high in the official ratings to compete in the race. What targets then ?? there aren't too many suitable races for him. If he did end up being rated above the 110 mark in 6 or 7 months time where could they send him ?

What I will say, if it all goes to plan on Michael's plan to do the Melbourne Cup and CH Wins, he would get an invitation to the G1 Japan Cup as a foreign representative, now hows that for an end of season belter.

CH vs Calandagan vs Japan's Best (Masquerade Ball, Danon Decile, Museum Mile id say at the moment, got to see the Japan Triple Crown to include the 3 year olds)

The Melbourne Cup is usually either run on going as hard as a road or soft as a bog - neither conditions suit Constitution Hill - he will also need to run a couple more times to earn a mark in order to be considered for the race, throw in the stringent vet checks in Australia and I personally ( if I was lucky enough to won him ) would not even consider the idea. There's no need to send the horse abroad at his age.

I agree with that.

Interesting that the first post Champion Hurdle Race is the Henry II Stakes at Sandown in May

As previously stated, I'm really not sure about the horse staying much beyond 1m4f on the Flat.

I often go to Brigadier Gerard evening - likely to be rammed this year if he goes for the Henry II Stakes - and if I decide to turn up I might just see him get outstayed there.

John Porter, Ormonde, Yorkshire Cup, Aston Park, Glorious, Stand Cup Cumberland Lodge, St Simon - eight realistic targets.

And he's about as much of a Melbourne Cup prospect as Walsworth is.

If CH is a non-runner, I will have an extra spring in my step on Day 1. It’ll be great news; and besides, I can see Lossiemouth and BDA both running, instead of in ‘The Mares’.
I don't get why people are now thinking Lossie will run in the Champion Hurdle. She was hardly avoiding it because of Constitution Hill, who has been a rank outsider until his run at Southwell. BDA is a certainty to run in it however

Good news for my 50s ew on Alexei😉.
I saw Tom Malone's assistant (he bought the horse for connections and rode him in that charity race) and he asked if I had backed him for the CH as they do fancy him back on good ground. Haven't got 50s though - that was shrewd!

You've thought the horse a prospect since the Greatwood - fair play.

Forum interrogator: "Question, Ian - since when have you cared about racing's image? Isn't this about landing your grubby bet on the horse never to win the race again?"

Me: "I plead 'the Fifth!'- and I don't mean the Fighting Fifth!"
