Equine Retirements, Long Term Injuries and Departures

I just hated the way they kept hyping up "it's his last race..."

And it shows just how much these horses give physically in the top races.

So So sad for them all, with everything that went on around him back along as well, to finish the story so sadly is all kinds of wrong. But the cheers alll around, the speed it would have happened and the fact that he’d have been full of adrenaline and known nothing about it is at least something. RIP to a superstar.

Yes absolutely agree - he would have known nothing. Just gone down with a plop. Awful for the crowd to see on the walkway and expect plenty to have taken photos and sent them to the Daily Mail etc who will all call for jump racing to be banned in all forms.

Genuinely gutting to hear the news about Envoi Allen. It's crazy to think we're 5 years on since the whole hoo-ha that preceded his move to HdB. What a legend he was, created many memories. RIP.

Trying to explain to non racing fans how wonderfully well these horses are looked aftwr is so frustrating. Also horses who run wild die agonising deaths. Plus what exactly do we do with the huge horse population if racing is banned. Questions all these keyboard warriors dont want to face.

Plus literally none of them spare a thought for the huge amount of wildlife killed on the roads every single day.
Totally. Where i stay countless badgers, foxes and birds are killed as the city expands. Not a peep from the keyboard warriors who would want to shut down racing. Incredibly frustrating when folk just react without a little thought of how it might play out. A microcosm of society today. No reality check just vibes. Utter bullshit.

Absolutely tragic, but could happened if he was galloping around his paddock I suppose ,😥. Least it was fast he wouldn't known a thing
Thoughts to all his connections especially his stable lass

Yes if you are going to go, then at your happy place (and he clearly loved it there) then instantly is it. Harder of course for the connections - did anyone watch de Bromhead's Travelling Head Girl interviewed. No idea how she held it together but a very good piece.

On another note, 17 time Graded winner and "Blue Hen" broodmare, Serena's Song has died at the ripe old age of 34!

And horses/ponies in the New Forest. Driving through there recently I was disgusted to see the amount of litter on the verges and it’ll get worse in the summer with all the picnickers

I'm sure a lot of horses wouldn't have even been born if it wasn't for racing.
