    The 2025 Becher (Handicap) Chase

I loved the bit about the Melling Road drive. Was invested already, but that made the investment even more worthwhile. Chaumi is - perhaps - easily pleased.

Keep an eye on Pawras' posts if you're into databases and data analysis. He runs his own.

Welcome Archi You gave me a few nice winners, and even have one or two sons or daughters still running in Hong Kong

    The 2025 Becher (Handicap) Chase

it’s probably due to lack of any deep enough ability to interact with said platform ( which I do have to say I - perhaps unreasonably - abhor, except for use cases such as this), but I don’t know what the username to follow is. The video links don’t show it for me. A search for ‘Ian Davies’...

    The 2025 Becher (Handicap) Chase

Your Twitter appears to restrict who can view, Ian. At least it's restricting me. If it's easy and/or non-time-consuming, can you grant access? same username If it's hassle, obviously don't worry.

    Stop At A Winner

But it's fundamentally a questionable approach. Assuming you fancy each one as strongly as any others, why should horse 1, 2, 3, etc on day 2 have any more (or less) chance of winning (or losing) than horses 2,3,4,5,6 on day 1 (assuming you had horse 1 a winner and stopped there). Not knowing...

Hong Kong Racing - Horse Race Analysis, Tips, Predictions & Live Races For Sha Tin & Happy Valley

Well, our Fallon didn't really turn up today. Seems he was unruly in the parade, I've never watched him pre-race before so don't know if that's normal behaviour. It's possible he got too worked up - a watch next time might be advisable. Anyway, some good racing coming up in HK over the coming...

Hong Kong Racing - Horse Race Analysis, Tips, Predictions & Live Races For Sha Tin & Happy Valley

As far as the Tote goes, one thing you can be sure of is there's plenty of cash floating around in the pools. Especially at Sha Tin meetings. Not too many fears of my level bets dropping the returns.

Hong Kong Racing - Horse Race Analysis, Tips, Predictions & Live Races For Sha Tin & Happy Valley

It's worth watching out for ex-Irish runners sold to run over there. It's big money stuff in general, so a fair bet they went for plenty of cash. That's one of the reasons I mentioned the 3YO in today's 2.50 - ex O'Callaghan. They can take some time to acclimatize and/or find the right level...

Hong Kong Racing - Horse Race Analysis, Tips, Predictions & Live Races For Sha Tin & Happy Valley

haha good luck to us then. 'Invested' doesn't even come close. It should be fun in the final furlong when he'll probably still be two-thirds back, but with that withering run already underway. The 9 furlongs should mean that last one is a long (enough) one.

Hong Kong Racing - Horse Race Analysis, Tips, Predictions & Live Races For Sha Tin & Happy Valley

Been watching racing in Hong Kong for a couple of years now, plenty of good-priced winners up to 80-1 had and to be had. Sire interest plays a big part for me, as usual. The formats, race days, spread of good class races, and the general race classes are all easily understood once you get your...

    Henry VIII novices chase 2025

At the prices, Sixmilebridge looks best value to me (in an 'anything can win this' race). Ben Pauling will have been gutted to lose him, and there are no obvious signs that the yard switch did anything negative for ongoing prospects. If he's not quite up to this level, a good handicap seems...

    Ante-post movements

Could be anything, and maybe is partly dependent on where you're looking and what the context is of those moves across (and in comparison with) different books. You will only ever have (access to) wildly incomplete information on this, but you might be able to draw/guess some (very loose)...

    X Spaces

If Ian does actually keep any written notes, I suspect they're rolled up and cemented securely on-person where the sun doesn't shine. And it's a fair bet it's significantly higher than 5,561-1 any of us would ever want to be going there 😧 Although I guess a heavy losing run might spark some...
