What are you watching

Until I kill you is well worth sticking with if you can and I’d thoroughly recommend you also watch the documentary that’s the fifth episode

I’m definitely going to watch the rest of the series. I don’t usually get scared by murder stuff. It’s spooky things that I struggle with. I even had to stop watching Ghosts one night when the little plague girl appeared. I think it’s the fact that it’s a true story that freaked me out. I really feel that the police don’t take crimes against women seriously; nothing seems to have changed since this happened.

The Yardbirds. Sky Arts. Missed the first half (even though I’ve been telling everybody to watch it all week) but, thankfully it’s repeated 6 Dec 10.40. I was so in love with Keith Relf (so cool, so beautiful…) and it’s a tragedy that he died so young. I hadn’t realised that it was Jeff Becks guitar playing that I liked so much even though I knew he was in the band, as I didn’t really like his post Yardbird stuff.Think I’ll be getting my ‘best of’ cd out to play later.

That's the Christmas decorations up so we're now watching our traditional first Christmas film, The Bishop's Wife (Cary Grant, Loretta Young, David Niven).

Has anybody watched all six seasons of Vikings? When it first started I watched it whilst waiting for a new series of Game of Thrones to start and never liked it as much when Ragnar departed. I found it inferior to GOT’s until the last disastrous season of that which I’m still traumatised by. I got up to season five but have just bought season 6 to binge watch in the new year. I felt that it was unfinished business. It’ll keep me occupied during my January hibernation. There was a very sweet film on Film Four tonight called The Quiet Girl. It was Oscar nominated but lost out to All Quiet on the Western Front. It’s the sort of rather gentle rite of passage film that I like but probably best not watched if you want something to cheer you up. Beautifully filmed and acted. I’ve discovered that another rite of passage film from a few years ago, The Last Winter, is on utube. People were talking about it on Facebook and I realised that other people had loved it, too.

Watching this tonight - absolutely brilliant, love British blues from the 60s. Tremendous stuff.

Thankfully remembered to watch it from the beginning this time. Wasn’t it great. I’ve never been a fan of blues music; I’m ashamed to say I only liked their commercial stuff. But I’m going to get my ‘best of’ cd out tonight and listen to it. I Wikipedia’d Jeff Beck the other day to find out what he died of. It said the band sacked him but I was pretty sure that, in the documentary, it said he’d left. He never imo did anything of note after The Yardbirds. I bought one of his albums once and never bothered to replay it. I’m so envious of people I’ve spoken to who saw them play live. I think I must have put a curse on my teenage crushes, the other one being Syd Barrett. Having said that, I did like Herman’s Hermits ( who were imo better than their pop imagine) and Peter Noone is living in America and still playing. No milk today is a beautifully constructed little song. I might have to subscribe to Sky so I can watch it again.

I do enjoy Herman's hermits - I recall a documentary where Peter noone is apologising for being a pop band and I'm just thinking we can't all be the Beatles mate.

I'm Into Something Good is one of the songs on which I get to lead in the band. I persuaded the guys to do it and they grew to love it.

That’s my daily ear worm sorted for today then. Dumdedum….
The Box of Delights is being repeated on BBC4 7.10. It’s the fortieth anniversary of its first screening. I would like to watch one episode a week and watch the final one on Christmas Eve which is how it was first shown but I’ll end up binge watching it. I do have it on dvd but kind of want to watch it properly on tv.

I've been a bit of a glutton on these Taylor Sheridan products.
Yellowstone, 1886, 1923, The Tulsa King, lioness + the latest one with Billy Bob Thornton , Landman. All good entertainment.

Watched the new Netflix Christmas movie last night - That Christmas - very good, can see me watching again in future, don't be put off by it being animated, like polar express, it's very well done.

There's a somewhat obscure Christmas film I try to find every year. A bit schmaltzy maybe but I enjoy it every time.

The/A Christmas Visitor

William Devane carries it along very nicely.

What did you think of 1923? I found the actress doing the Princess Diana accent did my head in!

Liked it. Posh girl Alexandra. Lost in the jungle, but snaffled a Hunter boyfriend. Agreed. A weak point invthe programme.
It rather detracted from how good the rest of it was. I tried to ignore how irritating I found her but I couldn’t. I haven’t seen 1886 yet. I liked Yellowstone.
