Can I just say...

I’m glad you’re back, EC, and I hope to see more of you. You absolutely and totally know your shit, and have been humble enough to offer apologies for previous mistakes.

I think Mr B has done a great job in de-prioritising the Chit Chat section of TH. Most of Ian’s time was spent there, and his posts became pre-eminent on the board. Now, you have to go looking for the Chit Chat section. Great result - the board already looks tidier, and Ian’s presence is lessened.

Ian - EC is right. You are taking over the board a bit. I have to say, however, that your racing insight is greatly valued.

Ian has a lot of racing knowledge, I just wish he would do more of that tbh. I used to know a lot, not so much now Len sadly

EC if you don't mind me asking you the same thing as when I first came across your posts back on Ohr your posts were brilliant you were a proper nice guy and always helpful. At somepoint I came across your late night rants and deletions of posts and things and thought it couldn't of been the same guy. When I hear you saying you got banned from forums it just strikes me as such a shame. I sort of remember you might get frustrated that more people couldn't match your efforts and you really wanted the forums to be better than they were. And they could've been a lot better with more of a collective effort.

Was it just the booze that set you off. Sorry if it's a bit personal but it all just never added up to me as I'd only known you and such a nice and helpful guy.

As it goes I never really agree with banning anyone from forums unless it's something very serious.
I just used to have brain farts Danny, was before I was drinking bad. I think I was just an arrogant tw^t tbh. No problem you asking at all.

None of us can control how much, or what, others post, Len, but what we can do is dilute the influence of others by posting more ourselves.

Take the now NINE race threads I've started - where are your nine opinions on those nine contests, Len?

In fact, where are so many forumites' views?

Some would apparently rather post on this blatant chit chat-esque thread sat slap bang in the middle of General Racing Topics. 😂

Bit ironic as these are some of the same people bemoaning Chit Chat being too prominent on the forum's listings.

You couldn't make it up. 😂

I like your style though, always looking for the lesser-spotted angle. A good mate of mine is like that.

His party trick - in the good old days of walking into a bookies and writing out a bet - was to back the horse with the longest name. He reckoned that those horses offered the best value, because they were poorly punted, on account of lazy punters not being arsed to write out the horse’s name! It won him a few quid, I suppose.

Eh mate we're all human just know your help to me will always have been appreciated. Thanks to the likes of you, Jamie and Alun + a few others you taught me enough to win enough to buy my house and pay if off in 9 years flat. Set me and the fam up for life. I'll never forget it.

You may have a few flaws haven't we all but somewhere underneath your made of the right stuff pal.

I don't care how big chit chat is. Why did you get banned from TRF?

😁 we used to love Hinge and Bracket in our house. The cricket club lads called Kate and I Whinge and Slappit - which I found far funnier than her, mostly because I wasn’t Whinge 🥴😆

I like to think so, thanks mate for those kind words:cool:. You were Broadsword on OHR weren't you? OMG that horse hurt me when it got beat by Baron Blakeney in the 1980 or 81 triumph hurdle. I had followed it all season and just could not see it beat. It was one of those early days lessons about this game:cry:, Still hurts now:)

I know, yes, we bear a responsibility too. Your posting of the Chit Chats was becoming a bit much, which is why I only read one or two of them. As I’ve said, your racing knowledge and experience is valued.

Aye but I didn't take the name from the horse. Some lads I used to knock about with used to to the Danny boy calling broadsword from where eagles dare. Somewhere along the line it ended up with me getting called broady.

Tbf in defense of Ian although he won't see this. I agree he should be able to start whatever chit chat threads he wants the problems have got mixed up here.

It was taking over the front of the forum a bit but that has now been resolved.

Most the main issue for the disagreement the other day was over Tanlics ban which a "group"supported whilst another group disagreed. The mod made his decision and that was that.

I've seen nothing on here that would warrant Ian being banned at worst it's a bit of mild baiting. Though it appears he's been banned from other forums, and was banned from TH by Col at one point (and Col was very tolerant) so obviously the old school will know what problems led to that. I'm aware that he's been involved in reputation destruction on other platforms. If I started thinking everybody else stinks of shit then its at that point I start to check my own shoes. If you get banned multiple times from places then maybe it'd be time for some self reflection on what your overall goal is ?

I do agree with forumites getting banned to be fair, I know I deserved it. I do not think Ian wants banning at all. I am even in doubt whether Tanlic deserved it tbh. That won't be a popular decision with all but his comment was about food. When I was a kid there were not many Chinese chippies, but we always called them what he said. Its wrong and times change, but I doubt very much if his comment was aimed negatively against Chinese people. It really is an age thing tbh. Is calling a food racist? Food isn't a race surely? Please reconsider mods, thanks.

If you don't like what someone posts just don't engage. It really is as simple as that. Post on topics you are interested in and leave the wind ups, baiting and narcissistic behaviour to others. You can't control what others do. My dad always said don't bother with things you can't affect or change. Or control the controllables as the yanks put it. Once a thread becomes a he said, she said type piece I just leave the thread.
Who knows what pieces folk get pissed off at. We are all different thank fook. Long may that continue.

Your Dad sounds like a wise man, Coach, and the genes are clearly strong.

I see all manner of material that don't interest me - rather than seeking to censor, admonish, or otherwise control the author, I silently move on.

We cannot control what others write, but we can control our personal reaction to it - I recommend not caring and ignoring, it certainly works for me.

And let your silence (no reply being a reply, no like emoji a tacit, invisible, dislike one at times, perhaps) be your most damning critique.

Exactly Ian. I feel so much better for ignoring arguments over trump, farage, brexit snd starmers lamentable efforts as pm. Plus the stuff around Henderson and his constant updates followed almost inevitable injury to the horse in question. I always look out for posts with a different take on things or maybe something I hadn't realised. Too many folk live in an echo chamber and don't see differing points of view.Unless folk are really out of order then I've no issues at at all what people post. Banning should the absolute last resort even if I don't personally have any time for the poster. Having said that I wouldn't be a moderator as it's such a tricky job. Same as being a referee in football. Utterly thankless task where you rarely get praised but one mistake and the wrath of the masses descends on you. Btw how the feck was man city's first goal not offside.🤣🤣

Have you always been pretentious or did it develop through time?

While some worry about inbreeding to closer than the fourth remove, Trudi is rightly more concerned about the introduction of sharks into the breed.
