The 2025 Derby

Ran Havlin has said it's slow ground (good to soft) and any showers could change it very quickly.

You can presently get 100/30 Ruling Court to finish in the first three with Bet Victor.
Mind you they offered 9/4 the Appleby horse to win the Oaks yesterday so they priced that right.
I wouldn't bet him to finish in the first 10 today.

I never have, and never will, care what any jockey says about the ground.

Ditto what CoCs say.

Data has always historically been more reliable.

The stick this morning said it's drying out and the first race time confirmed it.

I'd say it's Good ground now.

Rain could alter that, obviously, but where the F is it? 😂

Ah yeah, shur the jockeys are only out on the track riding it. Stick to the maths 🙄

It was working for me before you were born (those were halcyon days 😂) and it still works for me today, so I will, cheers. 😂

Richard Kingscote completely outridden by Ryan Moore there, and not for the first time and probably not the last - what a game. 😂

I'm not convinced Docklands was there to win today. Persica obviously was. When Cairo came out I switched to Ice Max and for all it ran well I'm not convinced today was the target either. Probably not that much of a race.

0.63s slower than the previous race over CD carrying 3lbs more so only about a pound between them on the clock (in Spiritual's favour). Spiritual was rated 106, Persica 112.

All jockeys in the weighing room are unanimous that any more rain and it will be soft ground. Charlie Appleby walked the course and agrees with the jockeys. Reported by Lydia Hislop.

I just think Moore was never going to find trouble where he was while Kingscote positively invited it.

Moore is riding as well as ever.

Persica 1.37s slow there - the filly was quicker in the opener and looks on the upgrade.

Probably the right decision. Final dec punters will get their money back. Shame for the ante-post ones.

Did I hear them say Buick switches to Tornado Alert? If so, Murphy will be fair miffed...

I'll let it off but 8/1 Rulling Court for the Coral Eclipse is now in play. Although a clash with Field Of Gold at Ascot would be the race of the season so far if they go that way.

The 2,000 Guineas winner is a NR, but for me the race is no less interesting this year.

Tornado Alert now represents that Classic form, but he himself was once withdrawn from a race on account of unsuitably Soft ground, albeit very early in his career.

Aidan O'Brien and Ryan Moore saying it's much softer than yesterday. Saying it won't suit The Lion In Winter and Lambourn will be going forward.

I'd expect Lambourn to go off around 9/2 now.

I've been looking at the weather map on the Met Office site for Epsom Downs Racecourse, watching the forecast clouds rolling in in 15 minute increments!
The weather map actually predicts no rain clouds hitting the racecourse until just about race time.
So, I have just taken some 9/1 Ruling Court on the exchange.
If nothing else, I reckon the price will be lower by early afternoon.
Money back, been saved from my own stupidity 🙃

Tactics won on soft ground. WL rode the perfect race for the conditions. Good Derby? - not for me

Along with Tornado Alert, I'm going to add Lazy Griff + Tennessee Stud to my ew folio.
I think both will come on a lot from their seasonal debuts + will have no problems with the trip.
Some of their end of season 2yo form against Hotazhell + Gezora reads well.
66s ++ 100s can be got.
A bit of profit on the race. Got 150s Lazy Griff + 70s ( boosted ) Tennesse.
