The 2025 Royal Hunt Cup (Handicap)

Pricewise tipped The Liffey 22/1 in his Pricewise column today. Also tipped Orazio (interesting) 33/1 and Annaf 25/1 for the Wokingham (both now 20’s). Still too early for me though.
It takes some balls to put up Orazio for the Wokingham. Genius or insanity perhaps. I was on him last year when he was flashing home and an unlucky loser. He really was poor after that though.

All in all, I can't have him, or moreover can't back him with any sort of confidence. I was backing him last year for the Bunbury Cup after The Wokingham and he never even showed up. Bad memories. I'll probably be eating humble pie.

Looks like Ancient Rome could be a dark horse! Always interesting to see who's carrying the form. Good luck to all!
The Handicapper has certainly given him a chance by dropping him to 102.

He ran alright, admittedly in a small field, in the Group 2 Summer Mile over course and distance last year and, though there will obviously be more progressive horses in the field, if he turns up he could easily outrun current three-figure odds.

Please do not address folks this way. That's flaming.

What the fuck would you know about anything?

Were you trying to be funny, or are you serious? This is the third warning in two days. I'm retired and in Spain at the moment, and I don't need these headaches, so please give your community some courtesy and respect.

If you don't like certain individuals - that's fine, there are ways to deal with that. But when you make these comments in a pubic forum, you are disrespecting this community and I won't allow it. Please refrain - thank you.

If you were trying to be funny with your mates, then you lost me and most everyone there.

To be fair, he's run well in the last 2 Wokinghams + is handicapped to go well again.
What he does after Ascot is of no consequence.

I wouldn't say it was of 'no consequence' to those punters who backed him into 100/30 fav for the Stewards Cup on his next run after finishing 6th in 2023, or the run after that when he finished down the field when backed into 8/1 joint favourite for the Ayr Gold Cup. He's got some talent, but overall been a disappointing type for two years now.

That said, previous form in these big races, whether it's the Grand National or the Wokingham is always a positive. I wouldn't completely write him off, far from it, but there's others to look at.

I think I’d prefer him if there was a bit of soft in the going, which seems very unlikely. However, his highest ever RPR was in this race last year on Good to Firm.

It’s often the case when you give up on these horses, they then pop up and you end up kicking yourself.

I hope connections of The Liffey got a good price or it won't run.
It's a joke to cut him that much just because pricewise tipped it.
