    The Gold Cup 2010

I think KS will win again on Boxing Day. I honestly believe he prefers just about most courses to Haydock's new one but because he's very genuine, and top class, he still manages to get away with it, last year's blip aside, when I just thought he wasn't right in himself.

PN's dilemma re advice on Denman & KS

A quote from Harry Findlay in the Guardian after Denman's second Hennessy win: "Two years ago we attacked for home early and that's how we beat Kauto Star. I don't know if we could do that again, but after what we've seen yesterday I'd make him favourite. Kauto Star had a hard race at Haydock...

    The Champion Chase 2010

I've a feeling Twist Magic will go close tomorrow. He's a mixed bag but this course seems to suit him best. I thought his run at Exeter was pleasing, and he had Mahogany Blaze behind him, giving him over a stone. That performance for me puts the Cheltenham race in perspective. Master Minded was...

    The Gold Cup 2010

If he wasn't feeling an injury, did he still run up to form? He was only a little further behind Denman this year, who in turn ran to a lower rating. So was NC below form this year, or was he rated a little too highly last year? Or both?

    The Gold Cup 2010

I think I'm in the minority regarding Albertas Run. I know a few people who last season wanted to see him stepped up in trip. But after yesterday's performance, even though he was in receipt of weight, I think he would be interesting in the Ryanair.

    Novice Chasers 2009/10

I hope you're right, Grasshopper. I've got Punchestowns for the RSA. If he goes there, I think he'll take all the beating.

Thanks for the link, IS. Some interesting reading.

    Breeder's Cup Meeting

And yet, if Sea The Stars turned up and won the Classic, would the Americans say it was only because Rachel Alexandra wasn't there? What is the general opinion over there about her connections avoiding the meeting? Just to add, I don't think Rachel would topple him anyway.

    Rest of Arc weekend

Sporting Life have the Cadran starting at 4.45.

    Punchestown Tuesday

Ah. It was easy to put a line through his run. Interesting that the RP race summary suggests that Joncol may turn out the best of them next season. Any thoughts?

    Punchestown Tuesday

Master Minded didn't seem at all like he was idling. He looked tired to me. Watching him in the closing stages, as well as Cooldine, made me glad Kauto Star stayed at home. As for Hurricane Fly, I'm very much looking forward to watching him next season. The two mile hurdle division is crying...

    Change Just One Result...

Thanks, Gareth. While it's true what you say about Sakhee, I still think Dancing Brave deserved more than that. I am sentimental, though. :)

    Change Just One Result...

Dancing Brave in the Derby. I still wish the cameraman had shown him more respect in the Arc, instead of focusing so obviously on Bering. Missed some of the Brave's stunning speed there. By the way, can anyone tell me if Dancing Brave has a race named after him?

    Should They?

No, that was Azertyuiop. William Hill sponsored a race a few weeks later that season, just under 3 miles, in which Best Mate beat Seebald in a photo. The race hasn't been run since.

    Should They?

Didn't Exeter do this for Best Mate a few years ago? Anyway, if he does go to Down Royal again, I intend to be there. Thoroughly enjoyed the trip last time.

    Totesport Bowl -Aintree

Awful news. :( Commiserations to his connections.

    Totesport Bowl -Aintree

It was a performance similar to Kauto Star's in the same race last year. It's always easy to say in hindsight but I've never liked to see horses which ran in the Gold Cup line up at Aintree, particularly those involved in the business end of the race. Kauto Star was a very tired horse at...

    Totesport Bowl -Aintree

RUK showed Sam Thomas getting quite serious with Denman before they even lined up at the start. There just didn't seem to be any enthusiasm there today. I hope he's okay. I feel as bad as I did watching this race last season.

    World Hurdle

Sounds as though Big Buck's may stay over hurdles next season. Punchestowns to go chasing. Ruby is magic on horses like that. Nicholls has had his share of quirky/clumsy horses in recent years and Ruby invariably gets the best from them. He's now the leading current jockey at the Festival with...

    Gold Cup 2009 (was: Denman)

Bregawn and The Dikler won having been placed previously in the race. In Bregawn's case, he was an improver. The Dikler was before my time but I'm guessing he improved, too.
