Ante Post jumps discussion thread 2025/26

I like this angle on Leave Of Absense. I see trainer Christian Wiliams has Jack Tudor booked for Deep Cave in this race, but he's double the price at the moment for this than the Silver Cup, which seems a bit odd, given no jockey is booked there yet. Let's see where he turns up.

The 2025 Silver Cup Handicap Chase

At least with my ante post bet I have four places, I'm pleased about that. Hopefully a few more come out on Thursday and my horse is not one of them. 😂👍 That aside, it looks like a hell of an interesting betting race.

Backing Venetia Williams' Chasers In November with Andrew Mount

This will be about his sixth entry in as many weeks! Cheers for the info.

The 2025 Silver Cup Handicap Chase

I've had an each way nibble on Threeunderthrufive. He's won and placed twice around this course all off higher marks. One of those was his third place in this very race last year behind Victtorino, giving a load of weight away that day he was. He'll have a pull at the weights with that horse...

Hong Kong Racing - Horse Race Analysis, Tips, Predictions & Live Races For Sha Tin & Happy Valley

Fair enough. I'd happily see him drift, because I know for the most part why that'll be. Let's see what happens.

Hong Kong Racing - Horse Race Analysis, Tips, Predictions & Live Races For Sha Tin & Happy Valley

I always respect what you think fella but nah. I reckon he's enough in hand the carry these. It's plausible backers could get 4/1 or 9/2 by off time. Aslong as there's no firm in the description I think he'll handle it. He was in front of Giavellotto in the Arc, who won this race last year...

Hong Kong Racing - Horse Race Analysis, Tips, Predictions & Live Races For Sha Tin & Happy Valley

What type of good ground are we looking at guys? It seems there's a concern Sosie might need it softer, but I think he might just handle it, (Sandown good to firm run needs a line putting through), and he's got the form to win this.

Backing Venetia Williams' Chasers In November with Andrew Mount

I saw this aswell. I hope Martator can run into a place, I'd be happy enough with that. A win would be even better, but I fear a few of the others, and feel it's what turns up on the day, sort of thing, hence I'm not seriously confident.

Is There Any Good Bookies These Days ?

I wanted to prove I had balls once so had 500 pounds win on a 4/1 shot in a local Coral shop. The horse won. I got paid out in a brown envelope the next day. No questions asked. No answers given. That was about 2009. Nowadays I'd probably be given a psychological evaluation not to mention a...

What are you backing Today? Part 2

Aye cheers thought he might win for a bit but happy with some place returns.

    The 2025 Longshot Thread

I'm sure no one will like this post, as I'm just stating the blindingly obvious, but longshots don't all have to win either! Placed returns are good returns.

    The 2025 Longshot Thread

Re-long losing runs, I can only speak for myself, but I assume from reading Maurice's contributions, that this also applies to him, that longshots and just part of the wider portfolio, Wals. Yes, I can lose on a few longshots but still turn in profit on other things, let's say on one of Ian's...

Is There Any Good Bookies These Days ?

I've a hunch a bookmaker losing however minimal an amount qualifies as being 'absolutely filled in' these days.

What are you backing Today? Part 2

I think Melon is drifting to too big a price in the 1.15 and am happy to back it at these odds. He's won twice after a break, has his first start this season, and is open to plenty of improvement, especially if he learns to settle down, not racing overly keen. I shall not let this drift put...

The trainer who uses Jackdaws Castle, Jonjo O Neill, was once described to me on the Neigh Forum many years ago as being the biggest gangster in Irish racing. That takes some doing.

The only honest thing I can say about money, is that I'm glad I haven't had any hungry stomachs to feed other than my own these past 40 years. 😂😁👍

It's old news and certainly very little to do with whether he can get a winner. This stuff goes on everyday, all day, all over the world anyway, it's pretty run of the mill stuff to people involved in high finance.

    Jp macmanus

Err, answer, yes. He's also apparantly quite close the bloke who runs Coolmore stud in Ireland. They can get a few winners. 😂 If you don't like the horses don't back them.

The 2025 December Gold Cup Handicap Chase

Venetia has shown she can still train a winner today with Djelo. I want to see Martator in the confirmations tomorrow. He improved a stone and a half on official ratings last year, and his last performance was a step in the right direction. I'd probably want decent ground for him and nothing...
