I'm afraid to even start this, but perhaps if we note Horses in Training who've departed due to death or retirement from the game, those of us who like to track 'where they are' will be the wiser. We should always note exceptional animals with their own thread when the pass away or retire, but I think there is a purpose to tracking all of the animals who are taken out of the Horses in Training list throughout the year. Sadly, I have to start with a permanent departure:

3.10 Catterick, Chase: LUBINAS, 8 y.o. fatal fall.

Did Right Miracle get up after being brought down at the last in the 1.10 at Fontwell?

....................or Our Ben at Thurles?
Yep they said both him and the jockey were on their feet so that sounds hopeful. There's been no mention of Right Miracle or the other horse that came down.

A runner in the 3.30 at Lingfield did not look good either, did not catch its name

edited to say it was "Theatre" but RP just says broke down

I suppose a thread like this does have its place, albeit a depressing place.

Fatalities will always occur in this sport, as in life. It is the responsibility of the authorities and trainers primarily to ensure that this state of affairs is not exacerbated.

Well, that's why I proposed it be not just for fatalities this time, Steve: some departures from training are happy retirements, too, not always injury-forced. Hopefully we'll keep it less heated than before!

RIGHT MIRACLE and OUR BEN are fine, THEATRE was reported as having broken down, but how badly the RP doesn't say. Hopefully, I will find out in due course. At Fontwell, CLANRYE broke a blood vessel, but should run again.

Very pleased to hear Right Miracle is safe. Looked a nice horse and today was only his third outing.

Theatre sadly died this morning at Lingfield, after breaking his pelvis in the race yesterday. Lisa pearson and someone else formt he yard apparently stayed all night with him, but they were unable to save him and he died inLisa's arms. Very touching piece on this on atr, matt Chapman very sensitive, and they showed two of his best wins, one on the flat and one onthe jumps

Oh God, that is horrible news. The stable absolutely adored Theatre. They must all be gutted.

Thanks for sharing the photo UG, it brings back much happier memories.

Chapman read out Lisa's email in full, and seemed very affected himself or maybe was just picking up on how upset she clearly was. Lovely photo Uncle Goo, and I suppose that is Lisa with him?

A good friend searched for a long time for the right horse for a prospective owner. He came up with Theatre, the owner bought him - and promptly put him with AN Other trainer nearer where he lived. Some people in racing don't deserve theier horses [and I mean the owner here, not the trainer!]

I can't see the problem with Chris Steward putting his horse with a trainer near to where he lives, Headstrong. If he hadn't sworn solemnly to the sourcing trainer that he'd have THEATRE, then it was presumably a favour he was doing for Chris, wasn't it? It would seem perverse, in fact, to place your horse with a yard which wasn't near to where you lived, given a choice! I expect Mattie Batchelor will be sorry he's died, too, since he piloted him on all of his hurdling occasions. Pretty good form on the AW as well.

Oh Headstrong, you disaappoint me. I thought from the undertone of your previous post you were familiar with the said lady? In which case I was going to prevail upon you to use your influence, as I have been feeling under the weather all week, and a thought occurred to me.... :brows:

Does anyone have news of Mr Dinglawi - I looked away from the TV for a minute and missed what happened but saw him pulling up pretty sharpish and couldn't tell if he had done some serious damage or not. He's one of my favourites so got a bit concerned.

Very sad - it looked pretty bad from what I saw and also unusual that it happened on the flat in those conditions.
