2020 Arc

I don't get it. I've had the French Open on in the background all week and it's not rained at all.

The other thing is during the summer when their racing centres on Deauville, why are they watering the ground. When was the last time a meeting at that shithole reported good to firm ground? It's a poorly run track for such a top race.

Due to contaminated feed some of the AOB horses in the arc may be withdrawn
as will aob and job horses in other races. They are waiting test results

Bright sunshine this morning for todays first matches at 11 French time.

I've had a little ew on Sovereign @ 100/1 with B365. Irish Derby winner that handles soft ground and will stay all day, should it become attritional.

ballydoyle runners all out

what a dreadful arc, if enable is still odds against though im not sure i can turn it down....

Gosden warns that Enable is likely to be beaten by the ground.

"It's not ideal, and for her to be even-money to win the race in such conditions is a bit absurd. They are backing her as if defeat is out of the question when I can assure you that defeat is a strong likelihood on this ground. It's not ground that plays to her strengths and if someone handles it really well then good luck to them. I feel the ground has very much gone against her chances."

nothing about what gosden has said there tallies with the truth, she isn't even-money even after the ballydoyle lot have taken a big chunk out of the book and i dont think she's being backed like "defeat is out of the question". she isnt even odds on.

Breakingnews from the RP:
Apparently, all the O'Brien horses (father and sons') are to be withdrawn from Longchamp, Sunday owing to contaminated feed.

I imagine the feed company are royally fecked! I used to feed it years ago but switched to Connollys Red Mills which is a far better feed (although IIRC they themselves had an issue years ago with a disqualification). But this is huge. For the largest and most successful outfit to have to withdraw their horses on the morning of the biggest race in Europe.......wonder what the “lads” are really saying.

Yes, I shouldn’t think they are best pleased! Do horses generally take a change of feed in their stride, or do they take a bit of time to get used to it?

Copied from the longshot thread:

I can imagine Barjon googling the number for the white coat people but here goes anyway...

In the Arc, I've taken 150/1 (4pl) Royal Julius.

The ground could be the heaviest it's ever been at Longchamp and could turn the race into a complete joke so maybe literally anything could win. He has form in heavy and stays the trip. There are doubts about several others in the race regarding the ground so I'm really backing him to beat more horses than he is beaten by at what seems a price that doesn't allow for the conditions.

It will at least give me an interest while I shout on Enable!

Ladbrokes, Coral, Sportingbet & Bwin will be refunding all Ante Post stakes on the Arc day non runners who were affected by the feed contamination incident as a goodwill gesture.

Betway going 2/1 Enable. Doubt they’ll lay much at that price but my £10 got accepted OK

Shame she didn't do but she's been an absolute superstar and today's result does not change that. Hoping all okay and she has a long and happy retirement.

Knew the writing was on the wall for Enable as soon as they wheeled out Brought Scott for the Eulogy....

Shame but that’s horse racing. Especially in France. Pity Persian King didn’t hang on for me as I only had it to win.
