This thread is in CHIT CHAT - got that? - CHIT....CHAT.

It actually states that on the thread and post labelling functionality of this excellent FREE website, but for those who can't be bothered to read things properly, I'm clarifying to help you out.

So instead of moaning like an Octogenarian in a care home, who was hoping for pink, not yellow, custard today, toddle off to GENERAL RACING topics for racing chat.

To be fair, you know exactly what I'm like.

At some point, please read my gripping account on another thread of how I came to give Waitrose the sack.

I can't be doing with scurrilous suggestions that THEY banned ME!

Maybe we should rename this site Talking Arses in recogniton of the number of crappy,meaningless threads it's throwing up by one man's ego trip.

it's actually really easy, you just click on my profile and hit the ignore button and I'd be grateful because I really wish you wouldn't notice me and then you wouldn't come blundering into folders that aren't about racing to demand chat about racing.
 
Attention seekers tend not to offer guidance on how to find the ignore button so those they don't get along with can ignore them - trust me, I really don't want your attention.

No one speaks for everyone - including you, fella - and you can easily put me on ignore as well, leaving me blissfully free to interact with those I seem to get along ok with here.
 
I cannot and will not read this thread in full what a godsend the ignore button is equivilent to the TV MUTE BUTTON
😝 not even tempted by "show ignored content facility !! surfice to say that I have the teeshirt and no worries this will not be seen by he who shall not be named the only person to have more on ignore than members they read and they will go on ignore after thhey have had the tumerity to disagree with them

You do seem to infect a site as you well know. I like some of your stuff but come on man, it can get too much what you do. Are you lonely or just want to wind people up? Personally that is up to you, I only casually post on here now but still don't like seeing someone personally trying to trash the forum, which I sometimes think you seem to be trying to do

If it as a load of nonsense reply, then don't bother chap, can't be arsed with pretentious shite, a few on here do that, veiled faux smartness pretending to be really ultra clever f*cks that bore the arse off people generally if they are honest.

Just asking politely here, what is your game with these threads that seem light hearted but really are not?

Are you bored with life or something? I get that way but don't see the point at a lot of what you do. Sometimes it is amusing, but sometimes tiresome, probably like my input sometimes.

Not trying to fall out with you Ian, will just say though, I don't get what you do on here and why you post some of the stuff you do.

A good few years ago this site and others had a poster called Phil Waters, he plagued sites with this sort of stuff that you do, are you him or his biggest fan?

Just asking here on behalf of others who may think like me............... or not:)
 
I remember that Phil Waters character, he was a real pain.

I don’t think Ian is in any way trying to trash this forum. He’s having a bit of banter and light hearted fun. I insult him and he insults me, nothing wrong about that.

The rather silly threads tend to help keep the forum open by keeping the traffic moving. When he does post anything serious, I take notice because he talks sense.

Bugger, I’ve just boosted his ego, he’ll be insufferable for a couple of weeks now!

You're way off - I've actually kept a relatively low profile here and mainly post light hearted, even self deprecating at times, material in Chit Chat, the equivalent of TRF's lounge.

I noticed the bloke who instigated all this has twice targeted my posts with "what has this got to do with racing?" when 1 they're in chit chat and 2 there are loads of other chit chat threads he could target instead.

I wasn't taking that lying down, so I started this satirical thread - forumites like Desert Orchid and walsworth can see it's harmless satire, if others can't see that well, that's their issue not mine.

I wasn't abusive - quite a few are here - and that concludes an explanation to you I frankly wasn't obliged to give.

Literally anyone who doesn't like my content can put me on ignore - I've even explained how to do it - the functionality is there to avoid ongoing conflict and I've got a few people on ignore myself.

It won't do this forum any good for potential members surfing for intellligent racing discussion.

That is absolutely ridiculous, and there are any number of other chit chat threads that show up in latest posts that you could've picked on but instead you chose to pick repeatedly on mine and now you're giving pathetic ultimatums regarding what other people, specifically me, can and cannot post.

For the final time plesse put me on ignore so I don't have to read any more of your unpleasant reactions.

If it's in the chit-chat section there's a fair chance it won't be relevant to many/most forumites. It's 99% certain it will have nothing to do with racing, which is as it should be.

There are countless threads I haven't looked at at because the headline tells me I needn't bother.

This time last year my new year resolution was take off ignore all those I had on it and, honestly, I'm glad I did as I've had sensible exchanges with some since then.

Personally I don't care what Ian's motive is for posting as he does. Sometimes I read his stuff through, sometimes I give it a paragraph and think he's had a dram too many ;)

Phil came across as a total moron - if you're reading this, Phil, keep reading - but I met him one evening in a pub in Hamilton and he came across as a perfect gentleman, admitting his alter ego was pure mischief on his part.

Ian's posts re Waitrose etc are harmless curiosities in which he doesn't insult anybody so I don't see any issues.

I do vaguely recall Ian from the initial days of the C4 forum (I think) and remember some minor spats but, to be honest, back then I was probably somewhat more spattable myself.

What's going on at the moment in these chat threads is nothing to fuss about.
 
That's^ what I call a proper bloke talking and the attitude desert orchid has to others here is pretty much the attitude I have to others here because if I'm not interested in what they're writing, rather than trying to tell them they shouldn't write it, I simply ignore it, and if they are persistently unpleasant, I put them on permanent "Ignore."

Which you provoked by singling me out for criticism when there are hundreds of other chit chat posts you could pick.

Expedition Bigfoot was really exciting, they nearly caught one, but he shouted, "when I'm in power there will be free Hobnobs on the NHS" and disappeared in a cloud of Moroccan Woodbine smoke!
