What's your assessment of Solwhit Sunny, do you think he would have won this years WH

Solwhit was a very talented horse.
I had him rated between 166 and 169 in his 2 miles time.
Came back after injury almost to his very best staying well over 3 miles.
I rated him in his 3 runs last year. 163 , 163 and 161 for his final run,
I doubt he will run to that level in the future.

She handles travel well. Get her beginners in at Navan/Thurles and then a few jaunts to the UK

Agree with that. I mean keeping the likes of Annie, Vautour and Faugheen apart at the festival. I know potentially Arkle, JLT and RSA but likely that 2 of them may actually suit the same trip. Makes it very interesting. Don Poli could also enter the equation in the RSA. Though the 4miler was my initial thought with him, I could easily be wrong. Briar Hill could fill that bracket. Already looking forward to next season.

Vautour won't see a fence next season - he will be the yard's Champion Hurdle horse.

One of the fascinating things for me about this year's meeting is the prominence of the big handicap form in the top races.

Lac Fontana and Splash Of Ginge brought the County and Betfair Hurdles form to the table yesterday and fought out the finish.

Whisper had won the Coral Cup.

Rocky Creek had been placed in the Hennessy.

Pineau De Re had been a touch unlucky not to win the Pertemps.

Holywell and Ma Filleule 1-2 in the Baylis...

Just a few examples.

These big handicaps take more winning than normal.

Willie did sound adamant he would be chasing, which I hope is the case. Obviously he can change his mind though.

The same was said of Annie Power, Frankel, until she proved she was top-end over hurdles. I know the yard tend not to hang about sending them chasing, but they've always said they thought Vautour was special, and it's hard to believe he won't at least be given a crack at the early G1's. It might be a different tale if he disappoints at Punchestown, but if he wins there, they'll be viewing him as a much-more natural successor to Hurricane Fly, than either of UDS or Faugheen (imo).

Disappointed with MR, but I don't believe that is his true form. Just looks gone at the game right now.

Anyway, I look forward to see him chasing next season, he might appreciate a fence. Well done to the winner though.

I personally believe he's a heavy ground monster marble - when he gets his ground he wins.

I agree in that I would have Vautour ahead of the other 2 you mention. I'm just hoping Willie thinks he can get the job done with one of the others anyway.
Will be interesting to see how it pans out.

looked at this one too. i think the trainer is having a fantastic time of it, some of his horses have improved out of sight since he took over, he had a 200/1 shot go close enough in the racing post trophy and nearly won the irish lincoln the other week with a horse thats improved about 2 stone in the last 12 months, he doesn't seem to tilt at windmills without reason. i will follow him closely this year.

Has 4 runners at musselburgh today

King of the picts a strong Fav in the 2m handicap.

You'd have to say if he stays he should probably be odds-on. I reckon you're getting 2/1 about him staying, which strikes me as pretty fair.

Gonna go for Caledonia in this e/w, owned by the same people who won the LD "Johnny Delta" on Friday, same trainer & jockey combo & with Brennans 3lb pull runs at less than 8.5stone. Ground only worry as not really run on anything better than good.

Maybe a cover, small bet on Pict to win and then take 8-1 on the 3 place cover ;)

I sincerely hope you are right Grassy. Suddenly with the demise of Our Conor who would surely have won this years race and your old pal Hurricane Fly unlikely ever to be a serious threat again, the Champion Hurdle renewal has not got the look of a race to excite.

MTOY's will always find one or two too good for him he simply lacks what it takes to win at the Festival.

A lot of people fell into the trap of thinking was unlucky when hampered early doors but the truth is he doesn't have the mid race pace to win a Champion Hurdle. He was bang there at the top of the hill but when the pace increased he was left plat as a pancake until his stamina kicked in and others came back to him. He wants a 2m4f Champion Hurdle or a World Hurdle to be seen at hgis best.

The time has come for a new kid on the block and Vautour fits the bill. He has the speed the class and travels like a dream.......I don't know which race he will go for but Champion Hurdle (hopefully) or Arkle he's the one they all have to beat.............as I am sure you will agree this fellow is pure class.
