Aintree

I hope all the jockeys are okay but Fehily in particular. He's had a lousy run of injuries in the not-too-distant past and is having a good spell at present; he deserves a decent crack of the whip (as it were).

backed stonebrook earlier for the next on the basis of some form he has with faugheen and josses hill. absolutely getting slaughtered into on the machine.

Not really. Jonjo was probably lining it up for some handicap plot, then realised it might actually be quite good. See Exotic Dancer for further references.

He clearly was hence the fact the horse - a proper 3 m hurdler did not run over 3 miles until Doncaster in Feb - quite a few of us on here spotted it before the Festival and backed him ! :p

I'm prepared to give Don Cossack another chance. I backed him at Cheltenham and he was traveling sweetly when he came down. He definitely needs this longer trip to see him at his best.

If only he'd stood up in the RSA. On that basis he wouldn't have been too far away. No fluke from Hollywell who is a lot better than just being set up for handicap plots. His rating over both obstacles won't leave him with many options now.

Just been looking at SILVER CROSS STAYERS´ HURDLE tomorrow. Looking to see what could I oppose AFC with... And I came to Thousand Stars and thought.... Surely not!?!

Grasshopper has always said one of these days..... Could tomorrow be the day??

I'm way ahead of you, DH.

holywell form franked there

Holywell (Up 12lbs) & Ma Filleule (up 7lbs) both winning impressively today has to give The Package (no diff) a great chance tomorrow. His 3rd in that big handicap behind these 2 at CHeltenham looks good form now and no penalty. He's right down the bottom of the weights too. Just 2lbs above his last winning mark.

I've absolutely nothing else backed yet and although I've probably missed the real value on the price, I'm backing The Package @ 18/1.

I think it's fair enough to take a positive view of the collateral form, but The Package is hard to win with, and I think he needs it to fall his way - and I can't see that happening in a race like the Grand National.

How do you think Wicklow Brave would have faired Grassy?

I'm not entirely certain about whether Aintree would suit, but he's versatile in terms of ground, and he'd probably have gone close. Maybe they'll give him another crack at Vautour at Punchestown (where quick ground would make it an interesting contest between the two).

I was sure I'd backed The Package at 33s or 40s the morning of the Cheltenahm race in anticipation of a big run there. When I trawled through my accounts the other night I couldn't find it so had to settle for 25/1 earlier today.

But he'd only be one of dozens you could fancy!

I reckon it is the tightest National I've ever rated. I'm literally struggling to discount anything.

Yeah it's a fair call. His win ratio is poor. I haven't given the race a lot of time. Almost looking for something to back. Do you fancy anything yourself other than Double Seven?

I really fancy Balder Succes in the 2:05. A horse I've loved all year over fences. His only bad run (Hinterland won race) was when he was wrong, 'All the Kings Horses' () were sick at that time... Being kept fresh for this is going to be a very telling factor tomorrow I believe. He's a beautiful jumper and will have no problem going with the pace that Next Sensation and Trifolium will set. They'll give him the perfect toe into the race... I'm all over the 4/1 on this if I can get it!

I need shooting for not backing Clondaw Kaempfer today. He was my ******* av at the start of the season. It's like Barry turning down a blow job off of Ness.

Lac Fontana my main bet of the day. Brought to win at the end at Cheltenham with a degree of certainly.Everything indicates will stay longer trip.
Balder Succes was my early AP Saver for the Arkle and I think he is generally overlooked when against some of the bigger names.
Katgary had any amount in hand when hampered at the Festival and is consequently underrated. Stiff task but up to it imo.

I've every faith Melodic can win the Liverpool Hurdle and show what a lovely horse he is.:)
