With all the major albums, except the X-Factor  , being released for the year anyone have any favourites or any albums that disappointed.

My highlights

Polyphonic Spree ~ Together We're Heavy
Maroon 5 ~ Songs About Jane
The Thrills ~ Let's Bottle Bohemia
The Bees ~ Free The Bees
Keane ~ Hopes and Fears......perhaps a guitar next time

The ones that just didn't do it

Teras For Fears ~ Everybody Loves a Happy Ending
The Music ~ Welcome To The North
Brian Wilson ~ Smile... a wait of nearly 40 years, should of left it there!!

Embrace - Out Of Nothing is my nomination for album of the year; it's absolutely fantastic. Snow Patrol - Final Straw is superb too. Other favourites from this year are -

The Killers - Hot Fuss
Keane - Hopes & Fears
REM - Around The Sun
Maroon 5 - Songs About Jane
Damien Rice - O

& I'm hoping that U2's album is as good as their last one, I haven't heard it yet.

Yes for me it has to be without doubt

The Killers - Hot Fuss

not far behind would be

Embrace - Out of Nothing

Easyworld - Kill The Last Romantic

I keep meanin gto get hold of an Easyworld album, Fudge - I saw them live a couple of years ago & they were very good. Might try that one then, a good friend of mine raves about them all the time too!

The Killers album is good
Best I have heard this year? Probably The Thrills. I haven't heard anything to really get me going this year, maybe I am getting old

No getting old is when people name all these bands and you have never heard of them - like me

Must admit to have slightly lost track of the music scene lately (mind u if Band Aid is anything to go by that is no loss).

Have only bought 3 albums all year and they have all been mentioned on the thread already.

Keane,Snow Patrol and Tears For Fears.

Mixed reviews have slightly put me off getting the REM album.

:P

I think you will find that the vast majority of the world agrees with me about Monster - abject shite and I felt that when it came out - when I was about your age !!!

Album of the year has to be The Libertines, The Libertines!!!

Single of the year has to be Kilamangiro, The Babyshambles!!!

The Killers album wasnt too bad, Razorlights debut was fuckin amazing, The Zutons - Who killed the Zutons was a breath of fresh air, Snow Patrol - The Final Straw i thought was ok at first but now does my head in, loved Keane - Hopes and Fears but agree a guitar wouldnt go a miss next time, Ian Browns album was dissapointing but im still going to see him at Bridlington Spa next year!!! Suprised no-one has mentioned Franz Ferdinand, was the Streets album released this year aswel? i forget the title???

Its actually been a pretty good year for music, although you wouldnt think so watching the shite they had in the record of the year last night.......busted.....thunderbirds..... :brows:

I thought Franz Ferdinand were last year, I'm probably wrong though! I didn't put Jet - Get Born on there either because I think that was last year's (just) too, along with the fabulous Counting Crows - Films About Ghosts.
