Albums........this Years High & Lowlights

Surely its Jeff Buckley - Grace. The legacy Edition, it was released this yr! Forget Her on disc 2 is definitely enuf to get this version even if u have the original:P

For what its worth, out of the ones, i bought this yr that was released this yr, i thought PJ Harvey's Uh Huh Her is brilliant. The Ash album was superb as well during the summer, quality sing along rock, a bit heavier than their previous records. Plus, Feist's album let is die and A girl called Eddie's album are both worth a listen, if u like Katie Melua and Dido than u will probably like them. Plus, Ed Harcourt's new album is superb as well, gets better with every listen. Lastly, im not too sure when the Jets Get born was released, if it was this yr, that would b in my list. Plus, although im not into Street's type of music, but i q like his singles....

Overall, i thought, just personal, this yr has been fairly disappointing music wise for me. But the 1s mentioned above were my highlights.

Grace was amazing when it came out, The new version does not add much to that though.

I haven't bought or heard much new stuff this year. The Libertines is good and is still on the stacker in the car. Morrissey's is a good album.

I'm hard pushed to think of anything else.

Irish Stamp - Busted!
Yeah - didn't like them at first but found i liked a lot of their songs eg. Year 3000, Air Hostess, Thunderbirds, 3 am, Who's David.

They've gone up in my estimations - unlike McFly, just a poooor Busted.

Irish Stamp i really was'nt sure if you were serious but this is hilarious. we were on about music albums.

A dissapointing one for me was The Libertines.
C'mon fudge, you've hardly room to talk with that statement have you!!!

id rather like Busted than dislike the greatest album of 2004, then again......ill think about that one!!! :D

No Walker i was dissapointed with it mainly because the first album was so good i never said i didnt like it. It is good but not as good as i expected it to be. :D

Ahhh....ok fudge, understood! Was in a club last night at about 2.30am, was pretty full until they played horror Show from up the bracket, the place was empty withhin seconds apart from me left on the dance floor looking like a right spare prick!!!

I was disappointed with the Libertines album after the last one. Time for Heroes was a wicked tune and there is nowt to beat that this time round. The best track on the new album is what Became of the Likely Lads.

When you think about Cant Stand me Now, what it means and how hard it must have been for Pete to write, i think its an awesome track. What Katie Did, can you imagine anyone else pulling that one off? Shoop shoop shoop delang delang.....pure genius!!! Man who would be King is another one of my favourites as is what became of the likely lads....if you aint seen the dvd, get it....some great live performances!

My two favourite albums of this year are

Morrissey - You are the Quarry
Magnetic Fields - I

Cannot recommend the second album more. The Killers are good and would have had me doing handsprings when I was 16, as theweddingpresent did, just a little more mature now I suppose.

It beggars belief that someone who writes such balanced racing previews recommends Morrissey.
Obviously a bad piece of Beef Or Salmon.

Quality album of the year?
k.d. lang - Hymns Of The 49th Parallel.

I think Morrisey is a bit of an acquired taste, its like Tom Waits, people who likes him loves him. Personally, i appreciate how good and influential Morrisey was in the 80s but i thinkim a bit too young too know his music well nor have i listen to enugh of his music to appreciate how good he is.

Mind u, im a big fan of Leonard Cohen who's not excatly from my era and i've been listenin to Led Zep a lot this yr and they r class.

Will, listen to the Smiths to truly appreciate the genius of Morrissey. Johnny Marr was ok too ;) .

I don't think that the second Libertines' album is much worse than the first. Both are a bit patchy. It does sound as if they were running out of songs though. Carl has taken them off the road now, so that presumably is that. A real shame.

As for Morrissey, I was never a big fan of the Smiths. I think that they came just after my punk period when I was looking for something a bit less intense in my music. My brother was mad about them. However, 'Panic' was brilliant and 'Last of the Gang' somehow relived the feel of 'Panic'.
