Hearing more and more about this one, albeit in lowly news articles rather than mainstream news pieces, I'm just wondering if its all being underplayed?

Everything feels a bit more surreal with very little public statements (or emergency statements) from PM's and Presidents, just occasional news stories documenting this and that. The West are playing their cards close to their chest as far as informing the public is concerned it seems anyway.

Something feels dodgy if you ask me....but thats probably stating the bleedin obvious

Hopefully there will be a resolution.

The main man in North Korea is a nutter as was his father. I remember the last war with them. At least we have China talking sense to them now

If the fat loon in the north dumped a nuke on the south, like he seems hellbent on doing, then who will retaliate?

Nobody

I apologise with all of my heart.......please don't tell Ardross or my other fans

I would back the draw on this one and for value a first half full time result of North Korea first half- draw full time.
I would also look at the under 2.5 Nukes market as they probably will spunk out one or max two before China tells him to stop.
I will do all the above in an Accumulator with Barcelona for the Champions league

While Harry's post is funny I doubt we are that far from the possibility of wagering on the outcomes of such events.

Remember posters on here in their usual wispy washy student politics way, arguing why couldn't all nations (including presumably al Qaeda states) have nuclear weapons. Well here's why

Very unlikely that the idiot will use them but who's to say that an even more unhinged lunatic driven by "life with a thousand virgins" (funny if that turned out to be a monastery) and genocidal race hate would not do so?

No matter how much rhetoric is used, they won't use them. They are looking for sanctions lifted and an official resolution.

Wrong

The sanctions, such as they are, are routinely busted by their venal supporter China. By stepping up the ante they have Tested even that state's patience.

And frankly the rest of the civilised world is not going to be bullied by this cretin are they?

Wrong? So you think he will use them? In my opinion it's bargaining for something else, the army state lives in the lap of luxury while millions starve.looking to show power to his people with his rhetoric,he reminds me of chemical Ali during the Iraq war.The weapons they have are poor by standards of the USA,they'd be lucky to find Guam on the map.

Theyd better use my sattelite direction finder then, fixed on my Toyota Landcruiser. It is set to default to Guam caused by I know not what. I can be on the way home from the races and find myself going into the sea. Presumably the new US missile site will add to the challenge:cool:

should have explained better links. They may well be looking for sanctions being lifted but its a very stupid way of going about it. No one, even china, is going to want to be seen given into blackmail from a nutter

It's hard to believe they would use a nuclear weapon, but it can't be excluded and they should be made to pay in the long run for even the mere threat of using one.

I agree with all the comments condemning North Korea, but this situation would have been avoided if the US hadn't been flying nuclear capable planes around its country, and bringing over many warships. If the same happened to the US, you can be sure its reaction would be to threaten the aggressor with war.

Japan and South korea are allies of the US. They naturally do not wish to see a unhinged state on its borders making continual threats and having nuclear capability. There is no telling how a paranoid leadership of a failed idealogy will behave. Just as with the outer reaches of islam and their perverted beliefs this is an idealogy that has no regard whatsoever for the lives of its people other than how to brainwash and suppress them

The US is not violating their airspace (russia flew planes "around the us" for years without being called to war) and would not be in the region if the north korean state just belted up and continued its socialist starvation of its people in peace

To blame the US for this is absurd

Agreed.

Its a given that he's a few shillings short but like any country he's being advised by people behind the scenes. In most countries these advisors have some sort of agenda but when the advisors are militarily motivated then basically.....they're f@@@@@.

This is quite bizarre.

Not really. The Pentagon are more-or-less suggesting that the B2 & B52 training sorties were a provocation that could really have been avoided, and that they are looking to 'turn the volume down' on their rhetoric.

Ah willya stop, ffs.
This failed rogue state has been streaming threats and provocations at its neighbours and at the larger world community since the armistice of 1954 ................ long before the recent joint military exercises of the U.S and South Korea.
If you believe that this time by threatening global nuclear destruction is a reasonable statelike response to some perceived "insult" by the U.S,. then, I kinda fear for stability and peace in this world.

I deal with facts as they are presented to me - such as those reported on the Beeb website. I find they usually help inform my opinion.
