Arcade

A magnificent score, Relkeel. Please PM me with your address for the £20 to be sent. I bow to your genius.

Please keep them, although I fear Tetris may drive me insane before too long. If I'm found with a pair of pants on my head, knitting needles up my nose and saying "wibble", it's all your fault

Tetris seriously messes with me, if I play it too much I find myself playing it in my mind when I'm trying to concentrate on other things. Very weird sensation.

I don't really have much Tetris advice, except that there is no point in fannying about getting lines in ones and twos - you have to be brave and wait for the long thin one to poke down the side to get four at once. In the early stages, you get 12,000pts a time for this - but it rises as the game progresses. In the latter stages of my big scores, I was getting about 40,000 a time. Obviously, these can crank one's score up a fair bit.

I also use the pause button every now and again - if my fingers are aching and/or my eyes are starting to go fuzzy.

I find it annoying that the one thing in life that I'm really good at offers no opportunity to make wads of cash (apart from PDJ's £20) or have sex with hundreds of beautiful women (although Griffin seems quite impressed). Why can't I be good at football instead?

Anyway, being the talkinghorses forum Champion means a lot to me, but I feel that this is a good moment to announce my retirement from the game.

Ah so you're not starting at level 1 then? I start at level 7 or 8 to ease myself into the game, any higher and my poor little fingers can't keep up!

And yes, I am deeply deeply impressed. You have my complete and utter admiration. If only all men could be as nimble fingered as you :D

     I'd almost reached 400000 on Tetris when Mr GG started wittering on to me about a new gogglebox and put me off my stride.

Stupid, stupid hexxagon was driving me crazy so I haven't played it for a week. Please, please, please take the stupid horrible game away.

I'm going for another go now.

Can someone please tell me how to get these astronomical scores ? I reached 50000 once, and nearly beat it once - but only just - before getting interuppted.

Don't waste your time getting one or two lines, you need to be getting four at once and the higher the level the higher the score for getting four. On level 9 or 10 you score around 10000 for a line of four. I always start on at least level 8. Build the blocks up so that you have a gap at one end to slot a long block into to get four lines at once.

I picked up on the four-lines-at-a-time bit a while back. Guess I'll have to accept the fact that I'm just rubbish at it.

You just have to entirely restrict yourself to four-lines, you'll get wiped out really quickly in a lot of games but once in a while things will fall right and you'll hit a huge score.
