Young Josh wanted a banana the other day and I said, "shall I open it for you?" "Yes" was the reply, so I did, opening it the way that I always have done at the "pointy" end. This caused a major furore, screaming, howling, shouting that I had opened it at the wrong end!
So; who's in which camp, pointy end or stalk end?

Stalk - just bend it back and it breaks the skin, so you can unzip it easily. I'd have thought that from the pointy end you have to pick at the skin a bit. Monkeys don't seem to care, though, and just bite right into them, wherever.

I love a firm, fresh one, straight out of its skin, but the skin must be yellow with a little green - no black spots! Cut up, in cold custard - yummm!

On the other hand, if they have gone a bit soft, quite amazing mashed, heated in microwave, then dolloped with strawberry jam. Yum again.

One from childhood: mash a banana with a sprinkle of brown sugar and a dash of lemon juice. Spread on bread and butter.

There again, you could just have a banana butty - must use butter, though.

I like my banana butties with the 'nanas just cut up and stuck onto plain white bread and butter. I also like to use the 'nana as a dipping stick into plain yogurt with added honey. More yums!
