Only 6 left in at the declaration stage:

Protektorat
Bravemansgame
Shishkin
Royale Pagaille
Corach Rambler
Minella Drama

I have to say, I find it odd (and possibly even a little concerning) that Cobden - who has ridden BMG in all his starts under Rules - is heading to Ascot rather than Haydock. Appreciate that Nicholls has Pic D'Orhy in the 1965 Chase, and probably has other good chances on the card, but even so, I would have though that Cobden would want to ride in the Grade 1. Does this suggest some lack of confidence in BMG?

The ground at Haydock is maybe a factor, because Shishkin is also entered in the 1965 Chase.....with de Boinville jocked-up (unlike at Haydock).

That suggests to me that neither Shishkin nor BMG will run in this race, although I see Daryl Jacob is mocked up on BMG not that this always means he’s going to run.
NJH surely won’t run Shishkin over 3m+ on heavy ground with the 1965 chase looking an easier option given he completely outclassed PDO over C&D in February

The ground due to dry up somewhat based on the forecast for the next week. How much I don't know.

I hope it does. As I'd like to see Shiskin take his chance if it wasn't bottomless or heavy ground. He's still got a bit of the X factor about him.

Apparently Daryl Jacob schooled BMG today. Wasn’t PN miffed with Harry Cobden for his riding of Captain Teague, so perhaps he is making a point.

Speaking at a press event hosted by the Jockey Club on Monday, Nicholls said: "Of course he would go back to being Harry's ride – there's not even a question about it. Harry's stable jockey and that's it, but he can't be in two places on the same day and you have to do things that are right. Of course he'll ride him again."

That is harsh....Jacob doesn't get mounts that stable jockeys get because he decided wisely to grab a retainer and now has a net worth said to be in excess of 12 million pounds

He's a brilliant jockey on the right horse and one of the most trustworthy to get the job done out there.

Daryl was Paul Nicholl 2nd jockey and 1st choice when Ruby left.

Shishkin now odds on at Ascot and BMG challenging for favourite here. Not much rain in the Met Office forecast for Haydock between now and Saturday so perhaps BMG will run after all

You could be right Viking. Daryl schooled him on Monday and said he was in fine fettle so it's all down to the weather.

Pity it wasn't Bristol who won it on heavy good to soft and good:)

Course being currently heavy soft in places it could dry out in time for BMG and Nicky won't risk Shishkin over 3 miles if it's tacky hence his price of 16/1

BMG 11/8 is very tempting as Protektorat is no world beater.

One that will love the ground if it stays heavy is Royal Pigaille who missed the Paddy Power for this

Chase track at Haydock currently Soft, G-S in places. Suspect my Minella Drama theory is thoroughly gubbed.

Yeah it was always due to dry up. I was surprised for want of a better word why Nicky Henderson ruled out Shiskin so quickly earlier this week.

Admittedly wishful thinking on my behalf, as I want to see Shishko in the better race, especially if the ground isn't too bad.

It wasn't even a case of, 'if the ground improves he might take his chance at Haydock', so I kind of wonder why he even bothered to enter him in the first place.

And didn’t PN drop him after he was badly injured after an accident whilst riding one of PN’s horses? Just as he did with Christian Williams. Maybe there were other circumstances that led to that but it did seem to be a repeating pattern ( apologies if my memories playing tricks with me!)

Very little rain forecast and the wind has been gusting for the past 48 hours and some...

PN is hardly known for his loyalty to his Jockey's too many really good one's have come and gone so it begs the question??????
