Betfair Hurdle

There are some great racing clips on YT nowadays .

This is one of my favourites - Comedy of Errors doing what HF and Binocular will be attempting this year , namely winning back the Champion Hurdle .

We all know about the great receptions given to the Dawn Runs and Desert orchids of the racing world but one of the most heartening things about this clip is listening to the crowd start to go mad when they realise C of E is going to regain his crown .

My Tent or Yours has been given a new rating of 162. The last Novice Hurdler to be rated higher was Iris’s Gift (167) in 2003.
 
That brings back memories!
In November 2002 in the early hours of the Sunday of the November meeting I did a series of AP bets for the festival in singles, yankees and super yankees. Included in the 7 horses I picked for the multiples was Iris's Gift to win the RSA Hurdle( now the Neptune) at 16/1.
Eventually ran in the World Hurdle against Baracouda. On the evidence of that run he would have hosed up in the RSA Hurdle.

The other 6 horses were Best Mate, Rooster Booster, Azertyuiop, Moscow Flyer,
Baracouda, and It Takes Time. If Iris's Gift had run in and won the RSA Hurdle my total returns for the meeting would have been in 7 figures.

Mustn't be greedy but it still bugs me. Anyway I beat Desperate Dan to win the festival tipping comp. that year.

Iris's Gift was rated just 142 going into the Festival, be surprised if MTOY comes out if it rated lower than he did.

Would the bookies have applied their limit?

I remember the case of the a/p bet last year on the Henderson horses. I think the punter could have halved his stake and ended up with the same winnings becasue of the limit.
 
I've been doing similar for decades and had checked out limits and rules early on. Made sure that I was always below maximum payout by adjusting the stakes for each bet.. The first ever excel spreadsheet I created was of all the possible outcomes of a yankee. Of the two bookies I used for that series one had a £1million limit and tother £500k.

If Tout Seul is peeved that he didn't run in the RSA Hurdle, I was similarly annoyed he missed the Pertemps!
