Was due to run today at Perth having made the long journey all the way up from Somerset. It was flagged up in RP this morning as being the subject of a major gamble - 10s into 4s. Its form makes interesting reading:

Its now however a non-runner - self cert as not eaten up. Thats a long round trip for anyone!

The owners background makes for interesting reading - FWIW the yard seldom miss when the cash is down and Alan Jones is possibly the shrewdest operator in British racing.

Good luck to them. If they've sorted out something that was ailing the horse and he's now back to the form of his ptp debut there's nothing wrong with them having a punt.

But would it have taken much to produce a drop in price like that in morning trading on a small race?

And wouldn't it have been shrewder to wait till nearer the off to have their money on, first because they might get a better price or get more on at the same price, second because they've now given the game away for next time out?
