So nice I'm considering buying their Cherry Compote next.

I always did belong in a gentler world.

We were in the cafe at Barter Books in Alnwick and asked where they got the lovely jam from that we had with our scones and they said Lidl, Bon Maman. We’ve been buying it ever since. I like the jars, too, and keep my collection of sea glass in them!

The one and only time I was ever in Alnwick was the summer of 1977, my family were on holidag staying in Embleton and my Dad let 14yo me go into a tiny newspaper kiosk in the square in Alnwick and buy my first ever racing paper - The Sporting Chronicle - and in the afternoon we watched The Minstrel beat Orange Bay by a short-head on a grainy black and white TV.

Have you tried Aldi's brand? (Or Lidl's?)

Likewise their blackcurrant preserve?

I pretty much lay it on with a brickie's trowel.

I can endorse the Aldi black cherry preserve. My local Aldi, is a lot nearer than Waitrose, as well
