Boxing Day Racing

I've looked at the Rowland Meyrick a few times and all things considered I think Aye Right rates a good each way bet with the five places on offer.

This is a horse who is battle hardened and reliable enough too. I am putting a line through his last pulled up effort. In his career thus far he has placed in a Charlie Hall behind Cyrname and in the 2021 Ultima at Cheltenham while also a good second to Cloth Cap in the Hennessy. He also won a Reheasal Chase in a battle with Good Boy Bobby. At 20s or bigger I'll have him each way.

In terms of ratings, known quantities, etc, it's easy to argue that it could be a great race but I can see it falling apart.

I'm not one for short prices, especially in handicaps, but I think Shan Blue might end up dancing away with it.

I'm not sure if the declarations for Kempton on Tuesday will be tomorrow or more likely Boxing Day?

Anyways, a couple I hope to see run are No Ordinary Joe back over hurdles. He was third in a Greatwood that worked out really well and he can get back to winning ways over hurdles in the 3.40.

I'll look to stick these in a patent and small win treble with my other fancy on Tuesday Ain't That A Shame over at Leopardstown in Ireland.

No Ordinary Joe nearly halved in price already. I took 7s earlier. Market support a good sign I reckon.

BBB running at Wetherby: I really can't, without swearing a lot, describe how mad I was ( still am ) that they ran him in that race with that weight. For what? Seriously for what ? I can't go there though 'cos I am so mad. Conor, who I love and if I was 40 years younger and he was desperate........ said he actually thinks it was the ground that did him and was much faster than declared and they had gone a good gallop all the way. That's the second time he's ran there this season and the second time the ground not been what they said.
He'll probably drop a couple which means they'll clucking stick him back at Wetherby for a poxy.... when could come to Ascot on 21st but nnnnoooooooo they'll all get nose bleeds if they come south.
I. Just. Despair. :mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad:

Sounded like a good finish I could only listen to it on the radio.

No Ordinary Joe would be interesting for the Betfair Hurdle or whatever its called...seemed to battle on gamely.

I have had a weird day loads of placers. This was good though.

What on earth happened to Three Cliffs Bay in the bumper? Thank goodness he and his rider are ok. It was horrific to see.

Backed this as well after seeing your post...thanks!

That Greatwood Hurdle form from 2021. Jinny. Everything has franked the form. I think the second horse home Adagio was one of the favs for this years Ceserewitch before sadly dying just before the race aswell. No Ordinary Joe was giving away 18lbs to the second horse today.

West Cork won that Greatwood Hurdle in 2021. Now he has been underperforming this season over fences. It wouldn't surprise me if the Skeltons gave him a break now and brought him to the Festival for another crack at the County Hurdle, where he was an excellent fourth behind State Man last season. Watch this space!!

A Plus Tard out of the Savills. Vets advice.

The Henry de Bromhead-trained Cheltenham Gold Cup winner was withdrawn from the 3m contest on vet's advice.

Speaking after the decision was made, De Bromhead said: "It's frustrating but he's just banged his joint and we don't want to risk him.

"The vets are going to dig deeper and he's moving perfect but he's just given his joint a bang. It's a bit angry-looking and there's just a bit heat there so we'll see."
