Breeders Cup

Buick will find a way to fcuk it up.

Oh dear - that was horribly prophetic - probably the worst ride by a UK based jockey at the breeders cup since Dettori on Swain. Moore superb on Magician .

What was Buick doing though asking her to make her move on the long turn after rushing her up like a madman- had he sat in and asked her later one suspects Magician would not have got to her .

He has ridden some utter shockers on this horse.

Was listening to Willoughby earlier on today and he spoke about the danger of Buick overcompensating for last years mistake.

Ardross you do spout some utter cr*p at times. Buick did nothing wrong - he was merely mugged late by a better horse on the day under a brilliantly timed Moore ride.

Superb ride from Moore (although I thought his ride on Dank was possibly even better) but had a Candian; Dank, Groupie Doll, Mizdirection, The Fuge & Wise Dan so the last beer didnt go down so well...

Just hope DOW brings the Classic home and nothing against JOB but wish Moore was riding him.

He was in front too soon-easy to say from an armchair -at the highest level it was a mistake.

While Buick is normally a sound judge of pace, he probably did go too soon off what was the strongest (relative) pace of the night. It's no coincidence that the other 3 principals all came from further back, and started their runs later.

Just driven back to San Diego from the track. Weird day. No student of American form, so with so few Europeans playing, I felt a little at arms length from the whole circus.

Ardross is completely sound on this one. Buick lost the race, Moore didn't win it. Three wide to go early. WTF was he thinking. As Ardross would no doubt agree, he makes Qualley look like Lester.

Sorry I think you are all wrong. The Fugue is travelling easily then just before the quarter pole she starts to come off the bridle - whats he supposed to do? Sit there and go "Oh I'll wait in case there is one really, really late finisher?" and consequently disappoint the filly? NO he has to go on and keep his momemtum going. He very nearly gets it right - the horses he has round him are with him but emptying, she is giving her all and only gets nailed in the dying stride. ITs ashort straight - I don't see how hanging on to her longer with the way the filly was travelling was going to work.

Tend to agree Jinny. If JOB had been in Magician, would we have seen such a finish? Doubt it somehow. Moore was a big difference

It wasn't a case of "one really, really late finisher" though, as all others in the first 6 were closing at the line. She just didn't last home the way she was ridden, and a more conservative approach - both from the turn in, and out the back where she made ground up quite quickly to move into contention - would have probably seen her prevail.

I think Ryan Moore is the best jockey nowdays
But even him makes mistakes

He won 2 yesterday with top class rides
But on friday lost the race with Giovani Boldoni

The fugue could have won with a better ride but she has been overrated and has not run a 120 figure in my ratings this year.

Well I am sure we have all posted utter crap in our time . Buick rushed her up dramatically so she was almost running up the backside of the leaders and then he pulled her wide and tried to make ground at the very worst point in the race.

The reason she lost was that she did not last home - and the reason she did not last home was the ride she was given . He did overcompensate for last year and disastrously .
