Breeding and Bloodstock Sales

I love Dartmouth so much - can’t wait to see that one!
Dartmouth's foals are all bays and mostly with no markings. The drawings for Annie's passport were a bugger to do because they had to do a deep search for whorls as the only markings. Peter from Shade Oak said she was a typical Darty.

She came home on Friday and is in fine form and really happy being able to ground her heel. The others were very pleased to see her back and take it in turns to stand outside her stable. 3 weeks of leading out and then hopefully more freedom to be her sassy self.

A question for breeding buffs.

What do you think of Persian King as a potential NH stallion? Has produced decent progeny on the flat and his very small sample size over jumps has an early high hit rate. His best winners on the flat tend to be at about 10f but he has plenty at 12f so 2 miles over hurdles should be fine with the right dam.

Are you thinking of using him? He's still quite expensive at 25k? Certainly for an unproved NH sire. He's actually related to Planteur (sire of Trueshan) who has done OK as a jumps sire in France.

No, we're giving Connie a year off. With no stud fee this year, a group of us have a couple of PK geldings who recently turned 2. Breeding and looks suggest NH careers and the plan is to keep them for a year when we'll take a view on whether they go to France for early 3yo hurdles or are kept back for the store route. Hopefully his stock as a jumps sire will rise in that year.
More interesting than Premium Bonds even with the extra jeopardy!

Interesting! Let us know how you get on with them. I think that could be early foresight especially with the thought of French 3yo hurdles too. Puts a nice premium on their heads if they win one of those. You'll have Antony Bromiley knocking your door down.
