Mail Error!

Could not send the email
Failed at 'mail' command

when trying to add a post

Hey there. I'm on Bt broadband, haven't had any probs. I do get 'failed at mail command' when I post but it is a lie!!!

Over three months after receiving the Home Hub, my daughter still doen't have any BT Broadband.

I've tried dealing with the company but they are totally hopeless and disinterested. We are now taking them to court.

Avoid BT like the plague. They're not worth the hassle.

Im with BT broadband and have the homehub wireless set up and it works great for me.

And no PR i dont have any problems with my emails but i use hotmail so it all goes through there anyway.

I also have the 8mb home hub, and it works wonderful for me, although the soft phone thing does go down time and time again, although if i have to use the normal phone they do give me my money back after arguing for about 20mins each time with some indian. :P

Seems to be luck of the draw with BT. I was with them for braodband for years. Superb service, next to no problems and excellent customer service on the odds occasion I wanted to change something.

Having helped friends out with their connections problems and watched them struggle at the hands of ntl, AOL and Tiscali I would never hesitate to recommend BT over their competitors.

Problems like Desert Orchid's prove that it isn't always a level playing field though.

Colin, I went for BT after weighing up all the options. I needed a wireless router and a good price. I knew NTL's reputation was the pits so they were never really in it. I couldn't find many providers that supplied a free wireless router and I thought I could puch BT if I had to. I never imagined communicating with them would be so fraught.

I've been with BT for about 5 years, the service has not really been a problem and seems to be improving. I'm tempted by SKY's free offering and would grateful if anyone who has taken it could give their opinion.

I have their 8Mb (40GB limit) service for £5 a month Tout Seul.

Had it for 4-5 months. Not a single problem.

DO, it was their customer service that pissed me off. We had moved house and I gave them notice of when I would want the service at the new address and I ended up being without an internet connection for three weeks. I went through the whole formal complaints procedure and I spoke to so many numpties that it convinced me that I would have as little to do with BT as I possibly could.

I have their free offering (Base Product, upto 2Mb) which is free to Sky TV subscribers and which seems fine so far. There was a £40 activation fee though and as my previous wireless adapter belonged to Orange I had to return that and buy another which cost £23 from Sky. The router took three working days to arrive once I ordered Sky Broadband and they tell you to allow two weeks for connection, although it actually only took 6 days. No problems yet, although a couple of e-mails have taken two days to arrive and not sure why. When I send myself a test e-mail they arrive instantly. The E-mail service is web based so you can log in from anywhere to read yours and the E-mails work through Outlook and/or Outlook Express fine which is more than Orange did.

There are a couple of cheapish upgrades available but haven't felt the need so far.

Some progress at last.

Having persisted with the number a fellow-forumite put up for me, we've had two visists from an engineer, the second of which is looking to have solved the connection problem (which was at the exchange).

The wireless router is now up and running fine, according to the girls.

We'll be monitoring the situation closely for the time being but there's now the compensation situation to be resolved, since we've had no service - and paying for it - and a lot of inconveninece since mid-October.

One more question...

Would a BT Home Hub work independent of a BT contract? I ask because they sent a replacement hub at one point (which obviously made no difference) and I wouldn't mind the convenience of a wireless router at home although we're with Tiscali.
