Cheltenham 2026

I know weather forecasts aren't a precise science, but I sometimes use the above websites to help read a weather update for local radio, but the amount of times they get it wrong is quite bad.

I only use them now if I have to record the day before the broadcast.

Otherwise I just use my own eyes on the day.
I agree - I used to be obsessed by them when I was running horses as it was crucial for some of mine not to hear the word soft in the going. That said the CofCs were somewhat "selective" with their going reports!

You'd have to hope that the Met Office as the premier weather forecasters in the country should get it the most accurate? I know they had a big fall out with the BBC a few years ago hence the split and differences in reports.
They've reunited with them:-

I used to use the Met Office app, but deleted it as they were wrong far more than they were right for where I live.

There's been a notable update from Cheltenham, as watering will begin on the New course from tomorrow.

Drying conditions has seen the ground tighten to good to soft, good in places on that track, on which racing takes place next Thursday and Friday.

Having, been soft, good to soft in places yesterday, it is now good to soft on the Old course, which the first two days of the meeting races on.

After such a wet start to the year, who'd have thought we'd be watering for the festival?

It is a very open festival overall which should mean some very competitive racing but also a sign of no dominant/generational horses currently or big names missing

I feel the Supreme will be a cracker and by default so to should the Turners

The Arke looks a good race with 2 potentially very promising horses from strong stables

The gold cup is very open and we can hope of 3 at least being very close as we near the last

As for the rest, I am sure you all have your banker

Mighty Park may very well go off as the supreme fav. I'd imagine he will be well backed by the Irish crowd on the day

I like to do a couple of lucky 15's on the weekend before the meeting starts, 1 win and 1 each way with a horse on each day on each bet.
So far my ew is looking like Mustang Du Briel ( Fred Winter), Broadway Ted ( Bumper), Impose Toi (Stayers) and Jalon D'Oudaries ( Albert Bartlett).
Will wait until Saturday for the win bet, but it will definitely start with Old Park Star who will definitely get bigger than 2/1 now that Mighty Park looks like running in the Supreme.
Can't wait for the meeting to start, but not looking forward to the remorse and what could have been after the last race on day one ;)

I'm looking forward to knowing what is going to be in each race!! It's currently a nightmare and I can't make any decisions.
But I do enjoy the Supreme kicking things off and it looks a cracker this year - also love trying to pick one out solely on looks in the paddock.

Let us know who you pick!

As in triumphant aftertiming?! It will be difficult to do it from the course as its impossible to get online there. Learnt that to my cost thinking I could use my betting account so it will be back to cash for Tuesday anyway.

True! It could only be after timing.

Good luck then.

I'm going on Wednesday.

I'm most excited about the Gold Cup on Friday, best contest in years, but I can't make it.
