Cheltenham 2026

Dear Starter,

Have your assistants bring the first half of the field around the bend and stop them. Go back and lead the rest round and stop them beside the others to form a straight line. Raise your flag and tell them to walk in. Drop the flag.

Good luck.
Joe
Sounds great in theory until you are sitting on said Uber fit racehorse who is primed to the last second and it's ready to go...

You have only got to look at that horse last Saturday...how many laps of the course did it do?

Of course that can happen, but if the adrenaline is kept as low as possible by structuring things, you have a much better chance. They walk around well enough in the collecting area, it's when they are called out the tensions shoot up because each jockey wants a position he knows he might not get. If he's on the outside, he's even more hyped by having to go faster then the rest round the bend.

If jocks know they are being led out quietly in two lots with the objective of stopping in a line before the flag is even raised they'll be much less nervy. No concerns about breaking into canters on the outside line. It is structured and easy to understand and worth a try, I think. As it stands at the moment, once they are called out nobody has any idea what will happen next.

Any idea how this ground will come up tomorrow on the new course? Should be the end of these disastrous starts as ruby pointed out last week thank god

All Gordons are being layed to f%*&.

Odds against Woodhooh
Honesty Policy from 4s to 10s
I've taken 10s on Honesty Policy. That's too big. The markets showing about 6 horses at the top of the betting all being backed but not all 6 can win.

I've gone against the grain and backed my opinion..

Bet 365 currently only 6s although that's with four places.

Let's see.if they lay him at bigger prices tomorrow.

A change from the settled weather is in store at Cheltenham on Thursday when racing switches to the New course, where the ground is good, good to soft in places.

Strong winds and rain are forecast throughout the afternoon, with a heavier band coming in after racing and into Gold Cup day on Friday.

Officials watered the course overnight to maintain conditions for the day three card, which is headlined by the Paddy Power Stayers' Hurdle (3.20) and Ryanair Chase (4.00).

Clerk of the course Jon Pullin said: "We did some watering last night, putting down 3-5mm. The forecast is mainly dry this morning but potentially with some drizzle, with rain moving in from lunchtime. The heavier rain comes predominantly after racing, through the evening and into tomorrow."

Although Cheltenham does not sit within the yellow weather warning further north, strong gusts of around 40-45mph are forecast during the afternoon action.

"We'll have to keep an eye on the wind during the afternoon, it's a south south-westerly, which is nearly head-on in the home straight," said Pullin.

"We have extra support on the wings and we've raced in those conditions before. It just depends on the direction and things like that, so we'll continue to monitor."

Given the forecast, conditions are likely to ease for Friday, although the forecast for the final day is mainly dry during racing.

"We're looking at 5-10mm potentially through late afternoon and into tomorrow and then it clears during the early hours and into the morning and it should be a mainly dry afternoon," Pullin added.

Day 3 of Cheltenham. After being Able to watch All of Day 2 due too feeling unwell, I got sacked from my Binman Job that day (Performance not up to standard). But at least I can watch the rest of the card of Today and Tomorrow

f%*& them. Working is for suckers.

I wont be doing the ITV7 however I did my spin the wheel for the Gold Cup day based on "Gate" Numbers and Sky Bet odds

Got Gaelic Warrior and Haiti Coulers, put EW bets on them

Will be using my £2 Free bet on Jukebox Man as a personal bet

I'm hoping today is the day Gordon starts his fight back as I dont want to see him getting all mushy again if Wendrock is his only winner of the meeting.

My thoughts on today:

Mares Novices Hurdle: BAMBINO FEVER

Jack Richards Novices Handicap Chase: SIXMILEBRIDGE

Mares Hurdle - WODHOOH

Stayers Hurdle - MA SHANTOU (win), IMPOSE TOI (each way)

Ryanair Chase: IMPAIRE ET PASSE

Yeah, my thoughts i think are probably correct.

Fact To File was a 4/6 shot based on the field being shite.

This is now a deeper race than many first imagined and more a case the price correcting itself.

Banbridge is a huge runner on this ground, as is Impaire Et Passe, then throw in Jonbon and Heart Wood and its a far deeper race than you think.

Few each way fancies today, nothing silly though.

Echoing Silence - Like this one.
Ben Solo, bottom weight and would have probably won had not unseated. Horses finishing 2nd and 3rd have won off higher marks since. Place chance
Idem - no real odea why this stands out to me. Just that the yard is in form. Failed last year and yet they have come again.
Herakles Westwood - Was too far at the meeting last year where they tried to hold it up and save some energy but had nothing left in the tank. Back over shorter back to better runs and at the course. Should place.
