Cheltenham Day 1

Gusts forecast to tail-off to mid-20’s before racing starts, going by the forecast I’ve looked at.

We could have a problem here. The winds are now forecast to progress from Monday into Tuesday lunchtime and I’m seeing 45 mph at midday Tuesday at Cheltenham according to BBC website.

Don't worry, Edward Gillespie's not in charge anymore:D

The BHA have jocked up Maries Rock for the Mares Hurdle according to twitter

Taking on 2 Champion Hurdle winners I think Palin and co have made a bad financial choice.
If she is good enough to win this Mares then she is good enough to have finished in the first 2 in the Stayers.

She handle soft very well at Cheltenham in the Relkeel but if anything to me looked like even further would have suited her to a t.

She already beat Epatante at Leopardstown but she had run at Cheltenham and Aintree and there's a fair chance she was over the top that day.

Honeysuckle could beat them both and that would suprise no one.

I had Epatante in a couple of bets but I checked and one was with Alloha:( The other is ina silly 5 fold so I might have abet on...........I wish I knew LOL

I will leave it to the next person to post one of the 3 and go with that :0)

I view it differently.

Both Honeysuckle and Epatante barely get 2m4f, imo. Combine the trip with Soft ground and it’s a double-whammy for both.

With the going potentially going to deteriorate further by Thursday, and Marie’s Rock’s stamina untested at 3m, and her being a previous winner of the Mares, and and and…….this is the logical and correct choice of race for her, and gives her much the best chance of winning, imo.

I agree with Grassy but the Mares is some race now. I’m torn between about 5 and having initially been against Honeysuckle I’m now looking at the 4.7 available on Betfair and thinking how stupid I’m going to feel Tuesday night if she’s won and I ignored it.

Ok I have gone with her on my own head be it.

All you punters out there stupid enough to be backing with bookmakers take heed.
I just upoloaded some fund because Marie's Rock is good value on the Exchange
£501.16 net to £167.50 on the machine and thats me having to pay 6.5% commission because I am in Thailand..a-holes:(.

But it's over £40 more than any bookmaker is offering at 11/4 and most of them are 5/2.

The Uk commissions are about 2% less I believe around 4.5% and you get discounts we dont so its £50 quid of a difference and you will have no problem getting on.

No I don't work for Betfair God forbid but it's crazy encouraging these penny pinchin bastids like the Magic Sign etc.

Incidentally BPG only applies if you reside in the UK which is another reason I steer clear when possible

only 2% base rate of commission in the UK. 6.5% is shockingly high.

Mmm, I’ll go with Facile Vega with Strong Leader as the best of the Brits. We haven’t had the chance to see how good High Definition is at the top level and if there’s a joker in the pack it might be him.

I can’t believe anything can come close to CH, but it’ll be a relief to see him pass the post unscathed.

Sources are 10 a penny You have to think like Nicky thinks.

Soft ground being the key or not Nicky will convince them to run in the Stayers. IMVHO

If it doesn't suit her she isn't going to win the Mares anyway and she's better off going to the Stayers where the big money is in the hope of picking up at least 3rd place or better.

At the end of the day it's all about the money and the horses welfare and she wont come to any harm she wont get over if she doesn't get the trip

Mares it is then.

Yep not that I agree with them taking on 2 Champion Hurdle winners

Obviously they think in the ground and trip is not her cup of tea.. They know best.

My worry is she gets tapped for toe by Honeysuckle and Epatante 2 out and can't claw one of them back.

She does take a bit longer to get into top gear but once she does she really picks up but nothing is going to win this by far,

Probably be one of the best races of the entire week.

Here are the winners for Tuesday.

1. Marine Nationale
2. Dysart Dynamo
3. Threeunderthrufive
4. State Man will win the Champion Hurdle
5. Brandy Love
6. Tekeo
7. Gaiiliard Du Mesnil

I’m already on this one. It was flagged up to me as it’s form in France was good and then I watched it’s last run and I thought it was definitely one to note for this race as he was ridden as though his next race was more important...if you get my drift!

I've gone with this Lucky 63, i got 4 out of 6 last year so let's see what happens:D

Jonbon
Gerri Colombe
Delta Work
Teauphoo
Luccia
Lossiemouth

There might be a glimmer of hope for my 11/1 Facile Vega Constitution Hill double yet.

I was suprised to read how keen Patrick Mullins is on his chances and there aren't many better judges around.

Will be a fantastic start to the week if he does win. Fingers crossed
