Cheltenham Festival Going

You mean timing from the point they cross the start rather than when the tape goes up? Could be, good point.

timings from the first hurdle will tell more of a story

even with the new timing method you wouldn't think in these races it would be too different..its not like they dawdle at the start..

there isn't much ground kicking up though

its a decent time even from the first hurdle.. but the winner is probably an above average Supreme type..so i'd say the ground is just fast side of Good using the average Supreme winner times..Arkle time should tell more

They have timed the races from walking, I timed them from when they let them go...no way am I 4 seconds out.

i'll stick them through Sony Vegas later to get them really accurate..thats good work off the online stopwatch

not sure about fast ground..but its definately fast side of Good..no ease in it

this is the problem..i always work from the first obstacle..it eliminates all this starting stuff

I am exactly the same time behind theirs in both races so they must have started the clock about 4 second after me, the other problem with this is, they have picked up full momentum....hence the very fast times.

i think with this new system you can add about 3 seconds to the new time to equate to what the old times were..its getting very confusing

read somewhere the arkle was faster from 3 out than when it was good to firm a few years ago

watching back a couple of replays on channel 4 last night when i got him, it did look rattling fast to my eye.

claisse calling it good to soft......yeah right

i've hand timed the pertemps so the times are more in line with the old method that my standards relate to..its nowhere near as fast as the first two days..something like 8 seconds slower for the 3mile trip than Good ground on this new course after watering..good getting good to soft

from the point they start to run.. the Ryanair should be run in something like 310 seconds..under the new timings 307 seconds...for Good ground
