Cheltenham Festival ground?

More criticism as bumper is delayed while they doll off bits of the course. Willy Mullins says “it’s getting darker by the minute, sometimes you just have to get on with it”.

He's quite right. As Mangan and others were saying, they regularly go through worse than that in Ireland.

The majority of the forecasts were clear it was going to rain from late morning all day . There was one outlier yesterday and surprisingly it was the Met Office maybe that is why they watered.

I cannot remember Claisse ever watering when rain was predicted . I was concerned by Mullins’ reported comments after the first that they might have withdrawn their horses yesterday if it was Ireland . There was no evidence that even if today was cool and cloudy of any risk of good to firm . We cannot have watering policy dictated by powerful trainers.

Also how soft was this ground underneath. Chris cook reported only 6mm before the first race and it was already very soft when the Ballymore was run.
