Cheltenham Festival ground?

[h=3]Going Good to Soft, Soft in places on eve of The Festival[/h]There are glorious conditions at the recacourse today and clerk of the course Jon Pullin has determined the conditions, with the going good to soft, soft in places.
Pullin is officiating his first Festival after taking over from Simon Classie last year and walked the course on Monday lunchtime before delivering his verdict.
He confirmed: “We are Good to Soft, Soft in places on the Old Course, which we race on for the first two days, and it’s currently Soft, Good to Soft in places on the New Course, which is in use for the last two days.
“We are dry today, with temperatures of around 13 or 14 degrees, and it’s a similar forecast for the opening day tomorrow, but then on Wednesday there is some rain around, with the lower end of forecasts around 3mm, but some forecasts indicating up to 8 or 9mm. It will be spread throughout the day, but if it becomes heavier it will be during the afternoon.”

It should be. And Nicholls clearly furious and was very reserved just now. Privately I would have let rip at the CofC.

it's easy to say now after the rain is this bad, pretty sure the forecast changed yesterday so it didn't seem they'd get this much and it was going to be worse later in the afternoon but confess i didn't re-check it last night.

with a fatality yesterday and lack of certainty over how much rain we'd get. think it's pretty harsh to blame the clerk. like nicholls said it's not an easy call to make.

Pretty sure the forecast I saw yesterday was for rain today so maybe a case of not checking enough sources

Nay Fist; he ballsed it up on the first day, and the forecast had little to do with it.

When asked what the ground was like a jockey said I don't know you can't see it for water:lol:

Hope it survives...I was there when Ten Up won the Gold Cup and we lost a full days racing

More criticism as bumper is delayed while they doll off bits of the course. Willy Mullins says “it’s getting darker by the minute, sometimes you just have to get on with it”.
