Cheltenham Festival Trials Day

I think the post-race Gold Cup quotes are seriously undervaluing the form of that race. I reckon CT's form there is probably at least as good as anything Tidal Bay has done this season.

"In the Argento Weird Al goes well fresh and will handle the ground and as I don't fancy the market leaders I have small ew bet. The reason it is small is because I have opted to back Cape Tribulation at whatI believe is a good price. He did me well over hurdles at the Festival and at Aintree last seaon and following his run LTO he could take on this uninspiring field. Looking at the forum archive confirms my admiration for this one from bumper days and he always looked a chaser in the making. Unfortunately he wasn't fluent over fences as a novice but LTo he appeared to have the confidence and fluency missing before.

A permanent improvement? Perhaps wishful thinking but I'm having a go."

Get in there !!!!!!!!!! Got 12s and14s yesterday with deduction to come off. Also got small 150/1 for Gold Cup.

Everything says Oscar Whisky shouldn't be running here so this is where reverse logic comes in. Henderson wouldn't send him here if he wasn't sure and he could end up making RDS look like the plodder he is.
I thought I might have been right for a a wee minute there.

I think the Henderson yard has to accept this trip is beyond him at the top level. Hope the race hasn't bottomed him.

He's beaten a neck by a confirmed top-end stayer on Soft/Heavy, DO.

He clearly gets the 3m, and will be able to turn that result around on quicker ground, imo. The Stayers is definitely the race for him at the Festival.

to me OW is clearly better at shorter..the race comments at shorter usually read..won easily..here he was all out and lost ..if he had won in a similar fashion to his others races then yes i'd agree..he stays well enough..as it is he's just one of half a dozen at this trip that might win the stayers..whereas at shorter how many are better?

He has a much, much better chance in a Stayers than he does in a Champion Hurdle, EC1......anyway I look at it at least......he's fourth-best at 2m in the yard let alone anywhere else.

he has never had any chance in a CH imo when you look at his form now..i'd rather throw my money down a drain at 3m than 2 with him..i weren't meaning that short..he's 2.5 miler through and through

i've no interest in him at any other trip

Nothing like Cheltenham to revive a dire month of mostly tedious racing. It would have been too cruel to deprive us of this.

Aintree looks to be Oscar Whisky’s real target again. Connections will be torn over trip at Cheltenham.

Apparently, Hunt Ball's only entry at the Festival is in the Gold Cup. It's a great pity as he'd have had a tremendous chance in the Ryanair, especially on better ground. Presumably, the trainer and the owner have discussed it but I can't help thinking that someone has missed a trick here.

There is a supplementary entry stage on March 8. They would be wise to take advantage of it.
