Cheltenham Handicaps

Nice to get it (kind of - if the Jewson might have been the race) right at last...

Alderwood was expertly plotted up for the County last year and went on to run well in top novice company. Any other connections would probably have set about targeting the Arkle but given his age maybe a handicap plot was thought more appropriate. Either way he deserves to be favourite and will probably win off just 140. I expect him to be running off a mark in the mid 150s by the end of the season.

Alderwood won very easily - just one or two taps to keep him going but all credit to Henderson and his team for getting Kid Cassidy back from the loonybin.
 
Those two were a long way clear and looked a class apart from halfway down the hill.

And that was a field containing more plots than Milton Keynes at the planning stage.
