It’s easy to see why Burdett Road is one of the favourites having seen it hack up recently in a decent race on the Flat at Newmarket and there could be more to come into this second season over hurdles. I’ll use him to cover my other bets in the race. The second-season novices are the ones that interest me most but from a price perspective I’m leaving Dysart Enos and Be Aware out of calculations. Black Poppy, Cracking Rhapsody and Royal Way are all worth small bets at big odds. The main bet is Jacovec Tavern who was sent off 5/1f for the Ces but didn’t get home. His juvenile form with Lossiemouth puts her in here off 140 and she’s currently rated 156.

First and second in the top three and bets covered. I'll settle for that.

The form looks shit hot with a Skelton job beaten in second and some highly regarded and well backed opponents beaten off. I wouldn't be surprised if the Schweppes winner is in that field.

How many potential festival winners have people spotted this weekend at Cheltenham &Navan.
What about Hamsiyann?

Was entered in our Ceserewitch and I was planning to back him. Later taken out.

Looks promising over hurdles.

Should win at least one major handicap hurdlebefore the end of the season. could see him doing the Leopardstown/Cheltenham double.

I’d have hopes for Better Days Ahead/The Yellow Clay from Navan and Jonbon/Potters Charm from Cheltenham but lots of horses to come out yet

Maybe not Festival material but Cast A Spell has plenty of latitude to win plenty.
Currently rated 105 she gets no penalty for today's win as runner up has no rating.
74 on the flat she has at least a stone in hand in future handicaps if she puts her shoulder to the wheel.
Her jockey claims 5 , has the key to her so he won't be changed in a hurry .
Her dam is one of the very few winning Galileo fillies to run in a claimer; there is a story behind that too !
Singing at mass so missed the race, and the price.
That kind of weekend.
P.S she got 8 lb hike, up to 113 but still attractive at that.

That must be one of the saddest afternoons NH racing I have ever seen. Broke my heart. I don't give two figs what I backed won or lost. Just very very sad seeing a horse win and then keel over, was so so upsetting. Maybe I am a bit soft eh?

Don't think anyone likes to see it Ec1 but it's part of the game. 3 gone in one afternoon at Nh head quarters is bad advertising for the sport. I dare say animal rights people will get their way in the end. I've heard the outpouring of emotions about It I don't go down that path myself. I hate cruelty to animals but don't consider horse racing to be cruel. Everything is relative but I'd rather live the life of the bull who meets his grisly end by the sword of a matador than be the cow chained up in dairy shed.

Whilst the world is war torn and full of kids in poverty and disease and whatever else then whilst it breaks my heart to see animals hurt I don't wallow or it or feel guilt for my participation in the sport of kings. We move on and hope they all come back safe and sound tomorrow.

According to oddschecker there's still 3 firms quoting Abuffalosoldier for the Becher Chase.

Really bad that.
