Cheltenham Trials Day

What an example Editeur is of a so called improving handicapper.

Very very few can make the transition he has.

Fourth in last years Grand Annual could you believe.

Pumpkin is such a master trainer. The two horses I couldn't have today (aside from the non Cheltenham types like Your Darling and Brave Seasca) were Il Rodoto and Stage Star. You just can't rule his out on big Saturday meetings. Absolutely delighted with Precious Eleanor there, nice place return.

I had Energumene in a 4 fold the last of which won and the same 4 in a 5 fold with Paisley Park..cost me big time for not too much stake:(

I really thought they would have been up there from the start to take the sting out of the Edwardstone's tail but I never banked on the winner......never even looked at it TBH.

Well done Ahoy backers.

I thought I had it there with Sounds Russian.

He hit one or two very hard.

Must have a proper constitution to stand up.

Having won a couple of times on heavy and once on soft if the rain came before the Gold Cup he could run a huge race.

What do reckon his prospects are in The Gold Cup, Euro?

I liked him a lot after Aintree last season.

Good to see him back.

Gold Tweet needs to be supplemented for the Stayers Hurdle.

Surely they have to after that.

They are all entitled to dream a little after that.
Even the fourth was staying on.
Delighted my 66/1 ante post Sounds Russian Gold Cup looks value now, if only for a while....

Some proper cut in the ground would be ideal for him, Edgt.

Cracking day's racing. I swear it gets colder every time I visit - just about thawing off now.

Same. Thought Stage Star wouldn’t act at Cheltenham after his poor showing in last year’s Ballymore and Il Ridoto wouldn’t get home again. I forgave his final fence blunder in the PP but when he did the same on New Year’s Day I figured it was because he didn’t have the stamina.

Just got in. Nine races on a chilly January afternoon is too many. I did back three winners including my beloved Editeur du Gite who could not have been braver and just jumped superbly. Energumene needs to seriously get his jumping together!

Some excellent racing but I was feeling it after race 8.

I'd be tempted by Energumene but I'd wait until closer the day as I think you could get 3s or 7/2 now on the day.

Plus I couldn't back him now as I'd want an update from Mullins first about why he got beat today and if he is ok from a physical point of view.
Reckon he was only half-cooked on the day,and the writing was on the wall with a slow jump at the 2nd last.
Expect a different beast come March, and will bet him accordingly.

He was primed for the week before. Could we have a similar scenario with this horse that transpired with BMG when he was terrible at Aintree after being pulled from the Brown Advisory last minute.

Energumene was right beside the other two when making last fence mistake.
He was spared a gruelling finish which could stand to him over the other two.

Re Sounds Russian , he holds his head high similar to his relative Merry Gale and with Revoque as dam sire may not get full Gold Cup trip.
That said, hope springs eternal.

Apparently Willy Mullins thinks he was put off by the white painted fences since he’s not used to them…….:)
