Chrismas Turkeys

How are you doing, I said nothing to you over on FF to deserve your comment :
'Trevor and Ste, not worth the vomit outside the local pub'
In fact your threads got so tedious I stopped reading them.
I will not copy the whole thread for the good people on here to laugh at, it may be OTT for them, but as for your invitation to 2 of the members:
'This is not the end just the begining, when you next go to Monmore I wish to speak, eye ball to eye ball with Steady Eddie and The Mighty Trig, dont bloody worry yourselves, I only want to talk.'
please include me in this meeting as would really love to meet you face to face for a chat.
I will let you know when it's on and if we are both available it's a date !!
Sorry to TH members for including this on one of Mark's threads but I needed to contact Mark somehow.

Cheers
Trevor

No need to worry about copying the thread Trevor, I've already done it, although I should apologise to Tryptych for hijacking that particular thread with Mark's piece of internet forum artwork.

The thing which annoys me most Trevor is that there were many people on FF who showed this particular person a lot of understanding and compassion when his parrot died and did their best to try and befriend him to cheer him up.

I do hope he's sincerely proud of his childish rant, but that when he thinks about it remembers how people tried to help him through his hard times.

I hope you do meet at Monmore Trevor and that Mark is MAN ENOUGH to apologise to you and everyone else he abused.

Okay, having had time to think about all of this and making sure I respond only on a thread I started, I will admit I was wrong to make such remarks to both Trevor and Ste. For those remarks I sincerely apologise.

Having spent a few weeks being wound up as I felt on FF, I lost my temper and made that last post. I still stand by some of the comments I made and felt it best if I was removed and banned from FF to prevent any further such posts from me.

Truth is Trevor and Ste have not offended me, and I can only apologise to those two for my rude remarks which I admit where out of order.

As to the comment regarding this forum and calling it Talking Bo**ocks - that was wrong too, I made that remark as some of the members from here were those who were winding me up. I should also add I am not alone in calling Talking Horses this name, many others have whether in jest or seriousness, the only difference is such comments have been made in PM's or in chat. So please do not make out I am the only person to have used this term.

Yes I did receive some support when one of our parrots died for which I am thankful. However, members of FF will also know I took time off from the forum as I felt I was being wound up by certain members there and I thought it was pretty insensitive at that time. Even when I returned, having taken a break from the forum certain people continued to make comments that would provoke or upset under the circumstances. I appreciate that not many people have the love as I and my wife do for birds, but it is no different if one loves dogs, cats or horses. It is a love for animals and I wouldn't dream of deliberately causing upset when someone has lost a loved pet and is still grieving.

As far as I'm concerned I have stated my opinions regarding this issue which continues to be posted on TH. I don't believe it is fair to other members on here that they should have to read posts containing comments of troubles on another forum.

I have nothing further to add and will not be making further comments on this matter thankyou.

Mark,

Only the one comment from me, as Shadow Leader has asked on the "Art" thread, if you have such a low opinion of the views that are expressed on this forum, why do you want to be part of it?

Colin

Colin

I have tried to explain in a post made just before your post on this thread, much I said was in temper, it is not actually this forum that I felt so strongly about, rather "some" of the members from here who are also members of FF that were causing me many weeks of upset and eventually caused the outburst which I posted on FF.

I hold nothing personal about this forum, I joined in March this year and hardly know the forum or members who post here, I am currently trying to correct that.

Can't be bothered to read all the off topic bits in the middle, but we're not having turkey this year. Couldn't care less if it's safe to eat or not, nobody likes it and I'm refusing to cook one '"just because it's Christmas". Same goes for sprouts too  Instead we've got lamb. I bought a huge leg of it yesterday and my lovely butcher took the bones out for me. Left his emporium with not only my prized lamb leg, but three pigs trotters, several large bones and unidentifiable body parts for the hounds :)

Anyone see the F Word last night? I thought it pretty brave to show the turkeys being killed but you were warned beforehand that they were going to show this, so if you didn't want to watch, then you should have turned off!

Ramsey is totally barking though, naming them - I am pretty hard about raising animals for slaughter but one thing I don't think I could do would be to name and then eat one of my cattle.

Think my mum will be doing enough turkey to feed a small nation so it's turkey sandwiches until the end of January (again) :(

I used to work off my excess energy at a mates farm hay bailing, stacking, tree felling, etc etc a few years ago....

At this time of the year he gave me a choice of meat (he reared pigs too I normally I had a leg of pork) to have as a prezzie one year I chose a goose!! but the down!!side (excuse the pun) was for me to capture it, (by jumping on it) hold it while he rendered it Unconscious and then slit its throat.( you need to pluck it while still warm as its easier to remove the feathers/down when warm).

Then I had to pluck it (I said pluck it) and then clean its Innards/entrails out, then I took it home and I cooked it (16lbs in weight) but I failed to eat it on my Christmas dinner plate only ate the veg etc etc......................

But the family all ate it, but I could not, having done all those aforementioned things to prepare it for the oven/table........................

Curried turkey on Monday would get rid of some.
I love 99.9% of curries...... but not TURKEY....................... :o but I suppose I'LL have to try it again this year? but I know!! I just don't like it....cats... out the back will be o/k though..... :P

I saw the F Word this week Jules - it's strangely addictive! I like it, & you're right - Ramsay is a nutter!! Although, I'm in agreement with LE that he's a not bad looking nutter "for an old guy" - her words, not, mine!!!! It was amusing following the fortunes of Gary, Ainsley, Anthony, Jamie, Nigella & Delia & it was a great idea of how to teach the kids about where their food come from. The slaughtering was a little cringeworthy in that I did wince at the screams - but I'm sure the birds were already unconscious by this point & I know this was a humane way of slaughtering them.

As for turkey at Christmas - I love it. Mum always cooks far too much which is fantastic - I love making up cold turkey, stuffing & cranberry sauce sarnies, they're the best!

Hope you had a festive tickle on dear old COLD TURKEY today, then, Dom - he duly obliged in fine style against (equally dear old) COMPTON BOLTER at Wolverhampton today, at 6-1. Now is the time to plunge on festively-named nags - it always works! :D

I back horses with names that have reference to a bird/s, I do this just for fun.

4/5 weeks past I backed a horse named Sweet Bird, it won at 25-1 :D

Jon, you ought to know by now - I wil only back horses on the AW that are bent as hell, stink of "PLOT" & I've heard a decent word for!!!!

I have just seen this week's F Word. I didn't enjoy seeing the slaughter. Put me off my food.

I didn't see the F Word but I cannot understand what all the fuss is about in the newspapers  Exactly how many turkeys will be slaughtered this Christmas? And which percentage of those have had a happy life, pottering around the garden and then were slaughtered yards from their home? Not many. Gordon Ramsey should be applauded, not criticised by those who'll buy their factory reared turkey this week h:)

I agree absolutely, Griffin. What on earth is wrong with filming humane slaughter of turkeys? That was the whole point - that Gordon would teach his kids (& ultimately, his audience) that the food doesn't appear from nowhere, it is nutured as a living beast before it is slaughtered en-route to our plate. I think it is a great idea - and I would question whether people who are uncomfortable seeing their food slaughtered humanely should be eating meat at all? After all, it doesn't magically appear shrink-wrapped with a Sainsbury's label on!!!!

I know that is the case but personally, I didn't like to watch the blood dripping everywhere.

I trust everyone's aware that the screams and anguished alarm calls of root vegetables being ripped untimely from their warm soil beds have also been recorded? And the cries of a variety of fruits? However, most of us can rest a little easier knowing that potatoes take their brutalisation very stoically and, so far, have failed to register even a mild squeak of protest on the vegometer.
