Back Rage Against The Machine - Killing In The Name to be Christmas Number One without X-Factor @ 7/4.

Thank me on Boxing Day.

I missed the really big prices, but it has only really got massive traction throughout today. There is a Facebook group with 200,000 members (currently going stratospheric - 150,000 joined today) pledging to try and beat X factor. It is starting to get plugged on the BBC and in NME etc. too.

Now given that last year's number 1 from X Factor had 576,000 purchases, I think that it is a tall order that they will pull it off; but given that 3rd place is likely to be in the tens-of-thousands of purchases, they have a decent shot at 2nd.

Who knows - they might land the big one - but odds of 5/1 look prohibitive.

I recently joined a Facebook group with the aim of getting Journey to Christmas Number One.

Don't stop believing.

No different to any specials market in that regard. If you want to tie up money in this kind of market then there a few fairly easy ways to spread it about .

Not the most jolly title for Yuletide, I'd have thought. Surely some festive slop by one of the ex-X-Factors more likely, like Susan Boyle?

I've been finding myself singing Bob Dylan's Must Be Santa but at 33/1 it's obviously not expected to do particularly well.

Yes, only with the sites listed in the Official Charts conditions, but there are about 20 and all the big ones.

Do people buy music any other way these days? Itunes is the biggest music retailer in the world and that is only one site.

Anybody have an angle into the X-Factor market btw? Going to have to sit through it all night so might as well have an interest...

A woman with a remote control in her hand is a very dangerous thing.

Yeah blame the girlfriend....just admit you were watching it!

Someone is laughing all the way to the bank. Thy have deemed themselves anti X Factor and as a result promoted their on song. I cant believe people are a, so thick to want to buy this song just to keep Cowell off number one, and b, so thick that this group stand to make a good few hundred thousand quid and publicity at the expense of the public's money.

They would be better off giving £2 or whatever a single costs nowadays to a nominated charity, that way Cowell doesn't benefit but something needy does. Also yes Cowell will still get his number one, but those against it can at least take some pride in knowing they gave money to something that will make a difference as opposed to some single of some bad just looking for fame and publicity, oh and your money.
